Lake Wave Hotel

Milaan was very friendly and helpful. He helped us find transportation and gave us tips about visiting the sacred city. The food was fantastic ( I miss it already) and he ( and his mom) did his best to accommodate all our food wishes. The mother makes wonderful eco dye products for a good price as well!

The exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the host family, delicious meals and the relaxed outdoor setting looking out onto the lake.

The staff was kind but the language barrier was very challenging. The AC and fan worked fine. The garden is very beautiful and has a peaceful atmosphere and view to a lake. Breakfast is okay but I’ve had better in Sri Lanka for cheaper.

The infrastructure is not so well taken care of. The walls are in poor condition, and the overall feeling is that the place is a bit abandoned… I’ve definitely stayed in cheaper but way better places in Sri Lanka, honestly. I think management should take a good look at how they’re running the business bc it doesn’t seem too healthy. Also, the communication of prices for services has to improve. I did my laundry at the hotel, was charged more than at a laundromat nearby and it didn’t even include ironing… which in any laundromat does. Same goes for bike rental service. I had the impression the service was free but in the end, it was not the service itself but the entry to the free part of the sacred city. Not a huge problem, just inconvenient.

Excellent location near a nice lake. Evening buzz by the shores was delighfull. Went for a short stoll along the lake. Owning family was very warm and welcoming. Made our short stay a pleasant experience. Excellent home made dinner was a cherry on top.

We stayed, as a family, in a massive room with good sized, very comfortable beds. We had a very effective fan, aircon and mosquito nets. Everything was spotless! we had a large balcony overlooking the lake and also a great view of the sunrise! Milan was extremely welcoming! He organised bikes for our arrival so we could explore the ancient city, he also answered all of our many questions and gave us a lift to the station. We had a delicious local breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lovely gardens and the lake, we even saw a 2 metre monitor lizard off for a morning swim! We would highly recommend Lake Wave Hotel.

We did not stay too long to rate your questions. We got there after 10pm. Left by 8am. Only we used the rooms to sleep.its

Directly next to the lake with a nice garden. Lots of places to relax. Owner is super nice and social. Bed and room were clean and comfortable. Nice balcony.

The food provided was fine but too expensive. There is no price menu so it was a bit of a surprise at check out.
