The entire Sanmara team went out of their way to make me as comfortable and relaxed as I can be! I was traveling with a little dog and he was treated as part of the hotel family. I would always recommend this place to friends and family and will definitely come back! Muchas gracias for an amazing week 🧡

"Lovely property in Chacahua, which is heaven on earth!"

8.0

Beautiful property and view, we splurged on the ocean view room and it was beautiful seeing the ocean every morning!

For Mexico, the cost is quite high for what you get. The staff was pleasant but not overly friendly, and the restaurant didn’t have an amazing selection. It was about 20 mins walk from town where there are other (better) restaurants.

Sanmara was perfect getaway, amazing location, staff super friendly and helpful. Rooftop pool was really nice to sit around and drink margaritas. Food really nice as well.

Can’t really complain about anything.

"Lovely hotel right on the ocean quiet yet a short walk from the village"

Beautiful unrestricted view of the ocean from our room. The staff especially Joaquin and Paulina couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable

It was wonderful and if there had have been a room available we would have extended our stay

"All in all I would not come back but rather book the DOME cabanas next to it."

5.0

Very nice location, directly at the beach, distant from busy part of the beach and village

Compared to other cabanas next to it it is overpriced. Particularly disappointing: I booked the expensive room with sea view for 3 nights. But when we arrived she gave me a room directly at the stairs, with window to the floor, a very noisy and unpleasant room. It also had a maintenance issue, there was no water tap (and also no WiFi reception). The most annoying was that she said that this was the room that I have booked. I denied and showed her my booking confirmation, but she kept insisting! Later I found out that they overbooked the rooms. There was party crowd hosted at the place. It was very noisy all night. Yet nobody of the staff gave attention to the noise. At least she gave me the right room after the party group had left the next day. And the also gave me a discount on the room. Still I think this should not happen in a place like this with such high prices. They should transparently communicate and not lie to the clients. Also the service is not very attentive, for that kind of price class. I needed to ask several times to remove dried beer from the sun lounger at the beach and the beer cans that the folks had left the night before. Also in the rooms there are stains of mosquito blood and other stuff which should be cleaned. We also missed chairs on the terrace, it is a stunning view but you can’t sit there or anything.

"I wouldn't go back unless I could verify they've turned things around."

3.0

- The beach and town are beautiful, of course - that's why you're looking at a hotel in Chacachua. And the hotel also *looks* beautiful; that's about where it ends. If you are looking for something with all the comforts of a regular hotel, don't go to Chacahua at all and head to a slightly more built up place. If however you are committed to Chacahua I would go for something 1/4 the price and accept that it will be simple, rather than go here and be disappointed. - Staff were kind people, but not at all trained on how to manage or work in hospitality.

- During our stay the local community decided to throw their community party (a massive Cumbia party with a music-festical-sized stage that goes from 6pm - 3am) literally on the front porch of the hotel. Given that this beach is a desolate 14km sand strip this was very likely an intentional act - someone important has something against this hotel or the owner/staff. The stage had to be constructed and torn apart so we had several sleepless nights. When we *calmly* complained to the hotel staff they made it clear that it wasn't their fault and that they were stressed enough themselves (a weird way to respond). But the staff's most egregious act: the night before the stage began construction they came to all the guests asking them to pay for their rooms immediately. Nobody understood why, and most paid. Once we clued in about the festival it was clear the staff was making sure that nobody could ask for a discount. - The hotel is drastically understaffed. At most times there is only one person for you on premises manning the bar and making cocktails, taking food orders and running them to the kitchen, and much of the time being on the phone or doing whatever else they felt. - As a result of the above dont expect your room to be cleaned. Nobody came into our room during our 5 day stay a single time, even though cleaning service is part of the cost, and even though we asked 5 times for someone to come clean our washroom. They don't have proper plumbing so you can't throw toilet paper into the toilets (fair), but their provided trash can doesnt have a lid, as you can imagine after 5 days this causes an atrocious buildup of used toilet paper; they were actively avoiding dealing with it even after telling us they would 5 times. - No hot water - very odd at this price. - If you order any food expect it to take an hour+ to show up. Most guests got the hang of this after 2 days, and would order and just leave for a while and come back to lukewarm food.
