Rancho Cumbre Monarca

Rustic ranch lodge, rugged, but we loved it. The only place close to the monarch butterflies, which were amazing

The rooms were beautiful and cozy. The property was large and the restaurant was amazing experience.

We did not speak Spanish and this made it hard to communicate.

We enjoyed the rustic architecture and decor, and the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, who facilitated our local transportation.

It was colder than we expected in late January, and while we did not expect central heating, we had to keep quite bundled during indoor meals.

Staff was very helpful and polite. Location was very close to butterfly reserve.

Beds were hard and it was cold when we were there. Only heat is a fireplace.

Tranquil rancho near the El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Very spacious unique property with many areas to enjoy the garden, animals, and views. Our room with the balcony (Cazador) was cozy with decorative touches both inside and outside, it felt like staying in a true Mexican rancho. Restuarant service was very responsive and quick.

Food options were limited but for the most part, tasty. Although this property is near an international tourist destination, no one spoke any English. Luckily my Spanish is bueno enough to converse. Space heater in the room would have been nice as the nights get cold. Firewood was an option at 150 pesos for a 1 1/2-hour burn.

We arrived very late and found this place at a much needed time. All of our other places to stay fell through.
