Karima Palace Houseboat: A Gem on the Jhelum River I recently had the pleasure of staying at Karima Palace Houseboat on the Jhelum River in Srinagar, and it was an unforgettable experience. Initially, I booked for just one night, but the charm of this place made me extend my stay. The view from the unique terrace is simply beautiful, with a good seating arrangement where you can relax and take in the stunning mountains of Kashmir and the serene Jhelum River. The terrace is perfect for unwinding, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. The hospitality at Karima Palace is second to none. The staff and the people are incredibly helpful and supportive, making you feel comfortable and at home from the moment you arrive. On my first night, while casually spending time on the terrace, a staff member kindly offered to share his own dinner with me—a true testament to the lovely Kashmiri hospitality we've all heard about. My flight was late in the evening on the day of departure, and not once did they mention late check-out charges. Instead, they simply asked me the day before what time my flight was and arranged a cab to ensure I reached the airport on time. This level of service was beyond my expectations. Throughout my stay, I enjoyed complimentary breakfast and tea, which were offered without any hesitation. When it was time to leave, and I inquired about the food charges, they said, "It's okay, we are not going to take money for food, just chill." One might imagine such a location to be deep in a remote area, but Karima Palace is conveniently located just a short walk from Lal Chowk. This gives you easy access to restaurants, famous eateries, and main roads just by stepping out. Karima Palace Houseboat is the perfect example of Kashmiri warmth and hospitality, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Srinagar. I highly recommend this place for a truly unique and memorable stay.
