The Crown Hotel

The food served in the bar was excellent, all home made and generous portions. However the breakfast was disappointing, no hot options just cereal and toast. The hosts and their staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lack of heating in the bedroom and bathroom and communal areas. It was unfortunate that our visit coincided with an unexpected cold snap for the time of year. The seating in the bar was most uncomfortable and the room cold except for the 1 hour in the evening when the heating was turned on. As a consequence the bar was uninviting. Low body temperature was further lowered by the temperature of the Black Sheep bitter which was put through a chiller before serving. The decor was somewhat dated and in need of refreshing.

Staff were matter of fact and we were almost an inconvenience. Room was cold, needed upgrading and breakfast was basic

Too many laminated (or not) rules and regulations on every wall Stayed in many B&Bs over the years and never felt that I was inconveniencing the proprietor by my presence....until I stayed here. Just stop the b&b aspect if you don't enjoy it.
