K D PALACE - Heritage Hotel On Fort

Raj and his team were so kind and hospitable to us! Our room was huge with a view right over the fort and into the town. The bathroom was also gigantic and very well-done. The property is in the ideal location, easy to access and close enough to everything you want to see in Jaisalmer. Plus, it's really special to be able to stay right in the fort! The property itself is brand new and you can tell how much care and detail they put into everything — it's really beautiful and impressive. We spent a lot of time up on the roof reading on the day beds, eating meals and soaking up the views. The food was great and well-priced! We had breakfast there each morning and dinner each night which was really easy and convenient. Big thanks to Raj and his team for everything! We will be recommending KD Palace to our friends, too.

Not all of the staff spoke English well which made it a bit difficult to communicate at times. But, all of our service was still really kind and attentive.

The hotel is located within the fort and in walking distance of Jain temple, Old City and the many charming alleys of the fort. A delicious complimentary breakfast is served on the rooftop with fabulous views of the city and fort. The bed is super comfortable with great pillows and comforter and included a wonderful window seat with great views. Stunning interior and well maintained. What puts this hotel on the superb list however, is the exemplary customer service offered by both staff and management. For example, due to a severe thunderstorm, there was a power outage which prevented use of internet. I had been granted a complimentary extended stay to take the sleeper bus to Udaipur that evening and everyone knew I would be using that time to catch up on computer work which now looked like a hopeless fantasy! However a team of four worked with dedication to get electricity flowing again ( which included giving me a hotspot in the interim, a new WiFi ID and borrowed electricity from the hotel next door!) Now that's hospitality! Additionally, the manager booked my bus, tours, and took care of all my transportation needs. An additional memory was created when after my early morning walk, I mentioned to the owner's son that I had seen some really delicious street food being prepared to which he responded "would you like some"? I was taken by surprised and extremely touched when he brought back what turned out to be Jaisalmer delicacies...as delicious as they had looked!

Not sure if this had something to do with the power outage but shower water did not heat up so only cold shower available.

Beautiful old Palace in the perfect location. we had the balcony King Suite which had a very large balcony looking down onto the first gate (noisy with hooting, so beware). Just splendid.

They should announce clearly on Booking that it is a VEG establishment only. (No eggs for Breakfast). The service was incompetent. The manager is somewhat Pasha-like - sitting and phoning orders. The breakfast, very poor - no muesli, only toast and jam and Indian semolina or pancake. Our complaints about the restaurant in the evening were sorted out by the manager, but we had to eat an hour late than we wanted after a 10 hour drive to get there. It took four attempts and 40 minutes to get a simple, black, Indian coffee in the morning, after attempts with milky Nescafe were returned. The aircon was preprogrammed to turn off just when we wanted it on. The room smelt intensely of naphthaline, and it is small for the price. Pillows are too thick and hard. We decided to leave two days early, which was unproblematic, and moved to the Ist Gate Home Fusion Hotel just outside the fort, which is so much better on every count except location (but not a bad location at all). Far, far more professional, friendlier, more spacious and a far better breakfast.

Great location and Soda was the best and the owners gave us a great tour of the fort. They go above and beyond in making you feel at home.

it was a very homely property with all modern amenities. it had a very friendly and courteous and helpful staff. The location was excellent.
