Icy Falls - Ohiya

Our room was well equipped and spacious, with a great view (from a private balcony) and a nice comfortable bed. We were checked in by really nice staff - who also made us a coffee - and they were able to arrange dinner for us (which was actually the highlight of our stay - a massive thank you to the chef(s)!) Our dinner and our breakfast were both amazing 👌🏻

Unfortunately we had a group pf young men in the room above us who were playing really loud music (and singing with a microphone) and just generally making a lot of noise - from around 10pm until nearly 3am. It really ruined our stay as we were unable to sleep properly, and so missed our early morning hike (the reason we were staying here in the first place). I messaged the hotel at midnight to inform them (via booking.com and whatsapp) but there was no response, despite the fact a 24hr front desk is advertised - and so by nearly 3am we’d had enough and I had to shout up to the room myself to ask them to turn the music off. The hotel cannot be fully responsible for the actions of other guests of course, but if a member of staff would have been on duty, then the issue could have been resolved before it got out of hand. In the morning, we asked the hotel for the noisy guests to pay for our room for the night, but they refused. Luckily we were able to negotiate a reduced rate/bill with the hotel because of the issue/our subsequent lack of sleep - but it’s a shame that the hotel has lost money because of some antisocial guests. In the UK, people making so much noise in a hotel would have been throw out without a refund - unfortunately this group got away with their antisocial behaviour (to the detriment of the hotel). It could be a good idea for the hotel to take/hold a deposit from groups of men in the future.

The staff is nice, sorry I forgot the person name (might start with a P?) he prepared the dinner for us and gave us eggs for next day protein snacks, he was very patient to answer all our question and packed the breakfast for us when we need to leave super early in the morning

Hotel close to Horton plains, but at night, we must drive through a foggy forest with lots of turns, might be dangerous. Be careful this place is super cold and humid, and there is no heater in the room, the water heater doesn’t work well either, need to wait for 10min to get hot water

Near Horton Plains. A little bit fresh over 2000 metres, but very nice view and comfortable room. Also food was very delicious.

Located a little down from the Ohia railway station, this accommodation was very mind-blowing and received a very warm welcome with a hot cup of coffee. Very friendly staff with smiling faces. Very nice interior and clean surroundings. They own a restaurant with delicious food and charge a reasonable amount for it.
