Icy Falls - Ohiya

Staff were pleasant and helpful which was the only positive thing!

Some of the timber doors don't close properly. Limited menu. Too much Salt in food even after asking to reduce. No duvets for everyone. Some had to remain feeling cold throughout the night. The glass sliding door came crashing down when trying to open to get inside the bedroom. Completely unsafe. Absolutely horrifying! No apology or refund! Owner did not come to see the situation on the day or next! Extremely unsafe. We were very fearful of our safety.

Ohiya is a tiny place surrounded by the highlands, and Icy Falls is well situated to take advantage of the view. We spent two nights there with the intention to visit Hortons Plains, the staff were very helping for organizing transport to the park, and well as suggesting other activities for the remainder of our time. We had a lovely balcony for our down time, and also enjoyed the meals in the restaurant.

We chose this accommodation because of the trip to Horton Plains and we are very happy. We had a beautiful and spacious room with a loggia overlooking the landscape. They also provided us with transport to Horton Plains.

Icy Falls gave us a lovely cup of tea on arrival which was very welcome after a long day. The room is a generous retreat in the mountatins. Great breakfast and dinner. If only we arrived earlier to enjoy the view for longer.

Nothing, we had everything we needed, they were kind enough to help us with transport the next day too. Ideally it would be nice to pay by card.

Prakash and other staff members were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They took care of us very well. What is even more impressive was the food made by Chef Prakash. We are originally from Sri Lanka, and we have had plenty of Sri Lankan food, including home cooked food. But the Rice and curries dinner we had here was unique and the best we ever had. We had a great mountain view from the room and balcony, and were able to enjoy the Sunrise directly from the room.

A fabulous view in this so quiet and peaceful little village . The staff here are the stars and the Prakash’s cooking produced some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka . We stayed three nights to walk a couple of days on the Pekoe Trail . I can’t emphasise enough how the cream here go out of their way to help and assist . We hope to return one day as we skipped Horton Ppalin but the walk down the Devil’s staircase was spectacular .

Food was fantastic but slightly over salted . The paintwork in the rooms needs a refresh and the team could dress a bit more professionally
