Fantastic location, lots of birds to watch from deck. Lovely family, very helpful and friendly. Good food too.

Bit of a mix up with rooms. Booking.com shows same pictures for both up and down room, but quite different. For future info for anyone booking, request up or down. Downstairs not as good view, but bigger cover so shade on balcony during day, and chair and desk inside. Upstairs better view but no shade on balcony in day and no desk and chair inside.

Beautiful views from the terrace. Friendly host, eager to please. The safari to Bundala which she arranged for us was good. Owner picked us up from the bus stop and let us check in early. So many birds on the lagoon and in the garden.

We feel that we have to mention these downsides as they have been raised in previous reviews. The accommodation is very basic and quite dark inside. Real maintenance issues in the accommodation - lights and electrical sockets not working. Also not particularly clean. Very basic for the price by Sri Lankan standards. Breakfast only adequate. Also, while we were there, work was being done to build a new restaurant area, so the garden had been dug up and was very muddy.

Our stay was 1 of the best in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed the true family atmosphere. Our hosts took care of us in every aspect (they organized transport to and from the venue, safari trip, delicious local meals,...). When we came from the safari, they brought us to another crocodile watching spot. It was amazing. The driver is really nice person, best driver, we met in Sri Lanka. The car was comfortable with A/C. The apartment had a nice balcony with a beautiful view to the Bundala park. It was modestly equipped, but very clean and cosy. Thanks to our hosts we got oportunity to attend a local budhist festival.

The host was amazing and cooks the most amazing Sri Lankan food! She also arranged a great tour for us. The location is stunning, right on a lagoon. Especially if you like bird watching or just want to get away from the busy cities

No hot water in the shower

- perfect location for Bundala National Park safari - amazing view onto the lagoon from room - nice garden from to relax and watch onto lagoon - very welcoming, nice & friendly host Piyumi & her family - Piyumi arranged a great safari in Bundala for reasonable price & prepared a tasty dinner

- no hot & well working shower - short bed (male, 180 cm) - dark room (my personal perspective) - could have been more clean

Great place! Just beside the Bundala so the view is wonderful. Recommend to book a safari here. Worth every penny. Breakfast is tasty and the host is very friendly and tasty.

Our stay at the Bundala Flamingo Cottages was one of the highlights of our Sri Lankan trip. The hosts truly make you feel like home -- they are genuinely friendly, caring and helpful. We were greeted with big smiles and a welcome drink (fresh juice). The view from our room was facing Bundala National Park, meaning we could see all sorts of different birds right from our balcony. We even got a glimpse of 3 elephants from the distance. Both the dinner and breakfast were very tasty home-cooked Sri Lankan meals. The highlight of our stay was the Bundala National park safari, which was arranged by the hosts. The national park was truly scenic, plus the low number of tourists (compared to Yala) makes it even more special. We definitely recommend this place if you are type of person that enjoys nature and wildlife.

Great place with nice views and very friendly and helpful staff. When our reserved driver didn't show up, Piyumi helped us and in no-time she arranged alternative transportation for us. Nice dinner offered with local buffalo curd. The trip to Bundala NP was great, we saw a lot of different birds and other animals, including elephants.
