Bundala Flamingo Cotteges

The cottage is beautiful in a wonderful location just outside the Bundala national park, and the staff very welcoming and friendly. They like to take care or you, offer safari options, and cook good meals at very reasonable prices.

The bathroom doesn’t have hot water, it’s not really an issue as room temperature water is already quite warm, but it’s something you should be aware of. In the bathroom there are some cockroaches, you are in the nature, so it can happen.

The accommodation was great, a lovely spot to relax in.

Hotel description on "Booking" did not comply with reality. Restaurant's facilities (tables, etc.) have to be improved.

This place is all about the location. It's amazing to sit on the little balcony and enjoy the view of the birds right from your room. (We stayed in the upstairs room) There's not much else nearby, and no other options for restaurants but they can provide dinner at the cottage. The owner arranged an amazing safari into Bundala which we absolutely loved. The jeep was really nice and our driver was so lovely. The hotel arranged all our for and drink for the day also.

The room itself feels a bit tired and could do with some updating in places. Although it's amazing to have a balcony to enjoy the location, the upstairs balcony is very small and you can just about get into the chairs and sit down. I would also say the dinners at the restaurant are on the expensive side, but as there's nothing else nearby, there's not really any other choice.

Excellent! Great location by the lagoon, there were some bee eaters and kingfishers on the tree outside the restaurant (see photos below). Food was amazing and plentiful, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped me arrange the safari and the taxi to Tangalle after my stay. The room was very comfortable, with good AC, which you will really need here.

Super nice, basic accomodation right beside the National Park, you can literally watch the animals from your balcony. The safari the owner organized for us was super nice and private and the driver was helpful and an overall awesome guy. Also the owner and her family were very nice and the food in the restaurant was delicious and cooked for our very own needs. We would definetly come back and do a safari again at Bundala National Park.

The owner was fantastic and her driver as well. Brought us to interesting places. Took care of us. Made us feel so special. Introduced us to some of their friends. Great knowledge of birds from the driver when on safari to Bundala park.

Room a bit expensive compared to other places

Our room had a lovely veranda which over looked Bundala where we could watch the fishermen and the water buffalos. The room was air conditioned and kept the room very cool. The host was very helpful. She organised a really good trip into Bundala for us. We also had a lovely dinner of kottu cooked for us as well as a tasty breakfast. We were lucky enough to meet some other members of her family too which added to our Sri Lanka experience. Ample parking

Kettle for tea / coffee would have been a bonus

The room is very nicely decorated with attention to detail. The outlook over the lagoon is stunning. You can see lots of birds right from your balcony. The host is incredibly nice and engaged. I highly recommend organizing your bundala safari with them! Our driver was so nice and approachable, knowledgeable and attentive.

The food is OK for a day, but nothing to write home about. The mosquito nets are not attached over the center of the bed which means they will just lie on top of you once you pull them down from the headboard. That makes the nets pointless. Bring deet spray and use it before going to sleep. Our tap on the sink didn't work correctly, but it was manageable.
