Bundala Flamingo Cotteges

I had the top floor room with a balcony overlooking Bundala National Park and the wetlands. The view was stunning.you see and hear all the birds. I did the safari with Chamin and his driver. He has a great camera and will lend you his excellent binoculars. He knows all the birds! A fabulous place to stay. You can't beat the view. Chamin arranged my onward journey for a good price with his uncle, a very safe driver.

You are in full full nature so keep an eye on your windows as unwelcome creatures may pay a visit! Not recommended to sleep with windows open at night. Would have liked a fan ( I don't like AC) and a kettle. Breakfast doesn't start until 8.30 am No water filter, only plastic bottles

Best place to stay when you go to Bundala! The cottages are super beautiful and the location is insane. It’s right by the lake where you can see so much wildlife. Chami and his wife are so incredibly friendly, they made our stay unforgettable. Also highly recommend doing a safari with Chami - he’s so knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife.

We were given a warm welcome and a choice of staying with the room option we booked or changing to the upstairs cottage with better views. Of course we switched and the view was great. The cottage had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We had prearranged two safaris to Bundala NP and these were both excellent. Chami came with us on both and ensured we saw so many birds and had a great time. We also arranged transfers to and from the cottage and Chami did a great job of driving us. We had an evening meal as well, which was delicious and just what we needed after a busy day. We would definitely recommend staying here, it was so welcoming and friendly and had everything we wanted and needed.

The sockets we all the 3 pin round type and we didn’t have the right adapter, but we were provided with one, so there was really nothing we didn’t like.

Flamingo Cottages are right on the edge of the Bundala National Park and therefore a fantastic spot for peace and quiet, and great views. This is a truly family-run business and the owners are the kindest and nicest of people, even inviting us to join them in a family birthday celebration. The room is basic but comfortable and the views stunning. Breakfast was great and the owners even made dinner for us at modest extra cost. They organised a private family-run safari of the Bundala Park which was excellent as the brothers were passionate and knowledgeable about the wildlife.

We spent two nights at the Bundala Flamingo Cottages. The location overlooking the Bundala wetlands was second to none. Waking up to see the sun rise and the myriad of birds, and buffalo was a highlight of our Sri Lankan holiday. The owner, Charmin, led us on a safari to the national park, as well as a couple of other tours around the area. He has a genuine passion for nature, knowing all the birds of the area. We were excited to see 16 elephants during our stay. Charmin and his family were great hosts and tried to make our stay special. Thank you!

Ideal spot for watching the birds and animals in Bundala NP. Chami and his family make you feel like family and I would suggest booking the all day safari with him
