Belvedere Hotel

I stayed here pre & post an Intrepid trip. The room was comfortable & had hot water with good pressure. The room didn’t have much natural light but the balconies that overlook the city are a nice place to sit. The restaurant serves breakfast & has a varied dinner menu. Advice to tourists - our guide told us not to turn left out of the hotel as it is not safe in that direction.

They didn’t charge the accommodation to my card so I had to pay at the hotel. They didn’t charge a surcharge though.

2 stars in a good location . The room was clean and had a frig and TV and was serviced daily. The restaurant was OK for breakfast but there are better options nearby for other meals.

The patios, the food were both spectacular. Really nice helpful staff too

Hotel Belvedere is in the higher section of Tana. The rooms are clean and simple but have everything that you need. It feels very secure in the hotel, but we were told by two guides not to go out after dark in the neighborhood. The food was good, a bit on the pricy side but not really out of line. This is important since we wanted to go to another place one night, but again, not a safe neighborhood after dark. There are nice public spaces including a little nook with a fireplace and several terraces with great views. It seems very popular with western tour groups. The guest facing staff members were all very pleasant. We stayed three times during our tour-I was impressed the first time, the second time a little less so and the third time was frustrating. We had a late flight and wanted a late check out and the manager insisted that we pay the full room rate minus 10 % (and the hotel seemed far from full) and the internet was pretty unusable and had been so all week according to the staff. Impossible to check in for flights, etc. Nice staff but management seems less guest friendly.

The hotel has a great terrace and is in a central location, with a safe walk to some restaurants. The location on top of the hill meant being above the worst of the air pollution.

Unfortunately, during our stay we witnessed other guests bringing prostitutes to their rooms. The hotel staff on duty seemed well aware of what was going on. We will not stay at this hotel again because of that. The showers were not functioning well, which was apparently down to water supply issues within the city, rather than the hotel itself.
