Hotel Casa Don Quijote

The hotel itself is so pretty, so authentic Mexican. Upon booking, the reservation asked if we were celebrating something special for the trip and I said yes its my husband’s 60th birthday celebration trip. And when we checked in and opened our room they had a big surprise of rose petals that said 65 anniversary! 😍 and lighted candles, Kisses chocolates and swan shaped towels. It was such a sweet gesture and we truly appreciate it. The bell service, the housekeeping and the reception were all very helpful and friendly and always smiling and courteous. The only drawback were the people serving breakfasts in the morning, especially a girl named Jasmin. She was very discourteous and just plonked your plates on the table when serving. When we asked for water as there was no swlf-service water station, she gave us just 1 glass although there were 2 of us. Then she sat on the bar loudly chatting with the girl manning the bar. When we called her to ask for another glass of water she made a face and grumpiliy pulled herself off the bar stool and asked us what we wanted. We politely asked her if we could have another glass of water as there 2 of us. We even tried to translate the request in Spanish. She said Ah! Ok. Then went back to sit on the bar stool and was chatting away again. When we were about to choke on our food we waved to her and asked if we could have the water we asked. The 2nd time she made a face and pouted and grumpily served us 1 glass of water and didn’t bother bringing a pitcher because the 1st glass was obviously already drank. This girl is not an asset to Don Quijote specially as she serves breakfast and the client tourists need to start their day in the beautiful city of San Miguel de Allende on a positive vibe. All that said about Jasmin -We Thank Don Quijote for the wonderful surprise.

Why have a bar if you don’t bother offer drinks?

Room was attractive and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Great space surrounding the sink and lots of storage space. Great corner room lighting. Staff were pleasant but their English was as poor as our Spanish.

Breakfast was not the best quality. The cushions at the breakfast table chairs were all stained. The easy chairs in our guest room were comfortable but faded from the sun.

What a unique hotel. Very quaint, very peaceful. Room was amazing, spacious and well lit, staff was great

No elevator. Our room was Lila, which was the only room on the 3rd floor. An absolutely amazing room, but an elevator would have been helpful for luggage.

Stuff was supper friendly and would go out of their way to help. Location is good and safe. We had no problem walking to and from center at odd times of the day and night

Poor ventilation in our room (junior suite). At ground level, leaving the window open was challenging. Bathroom exaust inadequate. Breakfast was OK, limited options, but could order extras for a small fee. We wish breakfast would start earlier than 08:30
