Hotel Santa Maria

Friendly staff. Early check-in was facilitated. Large room.

Is outside main town and as such you need a taxi to go to the town for lunch and dinner as the restaurant only serves breakfast and is then closed for the day. Taxi costs Euro 7 one way.

It was clean. The room was of a good size and, exceptionally, was a corner unit which gave it better light than all other rooms. Comfortable bed. Staff were cheerful, welcoming and efficient. Decent selection of food at breakfast, including scrambled eggs, but not outstanding. Easy parking. Convenient access airport.

The facility feels institutional, yet functional. Accommodation is more costly on Santa Maria than on the 5 other Azorean islands I have visited. You will not get the same value for money here - too little competition, it seems.

The hotel was simple and uncluttered . It was very clean and comfortable with a good restaurant and helpful staff. We had a rental cat so being near the airport but not the town worked out well for us.

Everything was fine.

quite basic 4 star but this reflects in the price paid so no real complaints
