The Barnstead Inn

We had a fantastic stay at Barnstead Inn! The grounds are beautifully designed and the rooms are very comfortable. We were also impressed with the cozy atmosphere and warm welcome from the staff (including the doggies!) at check-in. Breakfast exceeded my expectations - everything was cooked perfectly and they use high quality ingredients. We are early risers so we were delighted to find cinnamon sugar donuts with the coffee first thing in the morning for round 1 before breakfast. You can easily walk into town from this location which makes it super convenient for a jaunt. Town has lots of cute shops and restaurants! We really enjoyed our stay and will be back again hopefully soon. Thank you, Barnstead team!!

It's even more beautiful in person! The owners take great pride in the property and it shows. Staff was friendly, kind and helpful. Breakfast was great and everything at the inn was spotless. As a dog owner and lover the resident dogs were friendly and lovable. Planning another stay sometime in the future. I highly recommend the Barnstead Inn.

The Barnstead Inn was everything that we were hoping for. We wanted a quick relaxing weekend getaway in the off-season and it was perfect. The buildings and grounds are immaculately kept and our room was absolutely beautiful. The reclaimed wood on the floors and the ceilings made it feel very warm and cozy. We loved the walk-in shower. The tile stones on the floor massaged your feet as you took a shower, like a spa treatment. The staff made us feel comfortable and welcome from the minute that we arrived, and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Of course our favorite staff members were King and Lucky! Being able to snuggle and pet them helped us to not miss our own dog at home as much. We can definitely see ourselves returning back there.

We stayed most of the week during off season. Literally everything from the services, the room, the staff, the pets, and the food were perfect. We had a wonderful time. Pete and Andrea are hosts extraordinaire. The quality of the property and the care and attention paid is not often seen. We enjoyed getting to know them and hope we can return soon. @barnsteadinnvt

My husband and I absolutely ADORE the Barnstead Inn! It is everything you want in a place to stay and everything you need and MORE!!!!! The accommodations are top notch, CLEAN, easily accessible, BEAUTIFUL grounds, and fantastic tavern and Inn. We try to go 3-4 times a year because we just love everything about the place, staff, and owners! We are no longer guests.... we're FRIENDS!

The toilet in our bathroom broke both nights we were there - as I am pregnant, this was quite an inconvenience. We were not offered any compensation for this inconvenience, which was quite disappointing, considering how much the room cost per night.

First time at Barnstead Inn- would definitely stay again. Room was warm and clean, Bed was very comfortable. We decided to eat and hang out at the Tavern our first night-good food & drinks. Enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning. All the staff and owners and dogs were very friendly and accommodating. Took advantage of some discount tickets to Hildene-Lincoln Family Home. Had a wonderful time

I loved the quietness of the room, the inn wasn't pretentious, breakfast was delicious, and the two dogs on the property were an added bonus!

The pillows were just slightly stiff.

My wife and I have been to the Barnstead my times, probably seven or eight times, over the years we have stayed in many different rooms and have never been disappointed! If your looking for a laid back getaway with beautiful rooms a great staff and awesome owners this is the place. The pub is a nice place to end the day and if you get to try the chili you won’t be disappointed. Walking distance to restaurants and a nice downtown.
