"An exceptional place"

The Barnstead is a gem! Never having been to this particular spot of Vermont before for a horse show and found the Barnstead Inn on the horse show website. From check in to check out the service, breakfast and attention to detail is exceptional. We had an issue the first night with our room and after the office was closed. So a call to the after hours number an Andrea was there to rectify the problem. We were moved to another room and it was beautiful and appreciated (Thank You Andrea). The next morning a circuit blew and again it was fixed immediately. The grounds are gorgeous and inviting. All the staff was great! We will definitely be back!

"Poor housekeeping service; begging dogs at breakfast"

Day 2 - we left after breakfast and returned at 9:00 pm - ample time for housekeeping! When we returned, although the bed had been made, sort of, and we had fresh linens, the bathroom was as we left it. NO CLEANING of sink,shower, toilet nor mirrors; nor had the trash been emptied from the room and bathroom. It was so unpleasant to return to. The website makes plenty of references to the owners dogs, so we anticipated their presence. However we did not enjoy them in the breakfast room begging for food!

"Phenomenal!"

A phenomenal experience! Megan checked us in and showed us to our room, the Hildene Suite, which included the delicious charcuterie board we had pre-ordered, as well as the beautiful fresh flowers my husband requested. The room was outstanding, the amenities exceeded expectations, and the attention to detail was very evident. We enjoyed the pool, small bites and drinks in the tavern, the fire pit, and great conversation with owners Peter and Andrea and other guests. We prefer to try different accommodations when revisiting an area, but we'll likely be disappointed if we stay anywhere else. Megan, sorry we missed you when we checked out. Thanks for everything!

Large portions and delicious. We were so impressed.
