Kao Feng Hotel

Location is near main plaza but far from the bus staion. But hotel gives 5mins ride free of charge. It was rainy when I and my family of 3adults there, the bed mattresses have a heating pad . It was really helpful to feel cozy.

Our room was at the back side, wood view and very small for 4 adults.

One of the receptionists was helpful. Convenient location. Special looking rooms with some charm.

Had the price been half of what it was, my review would have been much more positive. Instead of dated I'd have used words like rustic. The bed is small. The heater turns itself off. The toilet flush doesn't really work. The hot water in the shower wasn't too bad though. The breakfast (in town, you get a voucher) was rubbish - and I'm not particularly fussy. All things I'd be happy to live with, but this was US$100 a night. For that amount you could get something quite nice in Taipei. Alishan is obviously a tourist destination and I'm not sure the other options in town are any better value for money. Still worth it for a night for the beautiful sunrise, cherry blossoms and forest walks. Won't rush back though.

have to walk up a road or 70 steps to get to main level of restaurants and buses (same as almost every hotel) shuttle is on a schedule

Clean, provision of heater blanket and heater in room, near to bus stop

Heater stops after 2 h, need to wake up in middle of night to trigger start again. Was advised to bathe hot shower only btw 6 to 10 pm to "save water". Very basic facilities and old. Breakfast at another restaurant outside of hotel compound, very bad! So many people, prob from other hotels. Food was not good.
