Kao Feng Hotel

The location was good and convenient. It was close to the train station, 7-eleven and several nice restaurants.

The hotel, while relatively clean, is in need of an upgrade. Shower took very long to turn warm. Heater was very noisy.

Delightful local breakfast experience and impeccably maintained surroundings, despite the vintage appearance of the facilities.

Slightly disappointed given the first floor, as it lacked window views. The outside mountain scenery was partially obstructed by a line of pine trees.

The receptionist offered us good plans to walking around and arranged our transportation. Very helpful!

Everything. Room is small, old and not clean.

The staff were very helpful and made sure they explained everything from how to operate the heater to how to get to the highlights of the park, the room was very clean and cosy with a comfy bed. Also the wifi works surprisingly well, I managed to have a full language class with video over zoom with no issues! It's true the facilities are quite old and the cost is inflated by the location, but it's by no means as bad as some reviews suggest. Yes it's a bit of a walk from the bus, but it's the same for all hotels in the area. Honestly the older decor has a quirky charm to it. The walls are thin, but so they sre in many other hotels and at least here everyone goes to sleep and gets up around the same time since they are staying for the sunrise. I had a VERY pleasant stay overall.

The only thing I didn't like was the brakfast, which was very local (i.e. for many Westerners like me it's not something we can stomach) - but again it's a similar case in many hotels around Taiwan...
