Shohjahon Palace Hotel & Spa

Wonderful hotel 5 min walk to Registan Square. Helpful staff with good English, lovely modern and comfortable room, extensive breakfast selection, fabulous pool and sauna complex. Hotel arranged a private tour of Samarkand, and our guide, Jafar, had excellent English and made the day enjoyable and informative taking us to all the major sites and a delicious local lunch. Hotel also arranged a on-site massage at short notice which was also fabulous.

We booked pool for the evening and we were the only customers in the pool at this time so we had it just for us :) I don’t know whether you always book it privately or we were lucky. Lady from reception helped us massively with Yandex taxis. She was great. Most of staff was very helpful and attentive. Help with carrying suitcases etc. Hotel is quiet and looks magnificent. Like a real palace! Cleaning service didn’t wake us up in the morning like it happened in other hotels in the past. Very appreciated. They were respectful enough so when one day we were staying in the room until afternoon they called us first to check whether they can send a room service. WOW! The bed was very big (although too hard). Room was big and had enough space (I think we had a deluxe room though?). Taxi to the airport is free, just need to tell them you need it

Oh dear. Some personel needs to improve customer service. We didn’t have the most friendly check out experience. Also when checking in, the rules of using spa were not explained to us (only very basic ones). The rules are NOT WRITTEN ANYWHERE (Even in the spa itself!) it’s only verbal info. First time we asked we were only told about pool and jacuzzi. Next day we accidentally find out that sauna and turkish baths are booked and paid separately. depending who you ask they give you price either in SUM or dollars. Until today we still don’t know whether massage is available - we saw there was a separate room for a massage. We complained about lack of info and we were offer something as apologise so it’s nice(we didn’t use it in the end) There was no staff in the spa,no cameras. We don’t know if it’s because we used it late in the evening (it’s open 24h!:)). The pool is deep and I would not feel confident to be there on my own if I travelled by myself. Spa is in the basement, far from reception. If you drown, noone knows? Also the changing room was only one it didn’t lock from outside. The toilet there didn’t lock. I don’t know what protected us from anyone walking through the door and seeing us naked. You are supposed to book the pool but if you are unaware you can enter the spa without passing reception. Hopefully someone would see it on cameras? The hotel booked a taxi for us from the station but didn’t explain we have to pay to the hotel. Driver looked liked expected the payment so we paid him (that’s how it worked in the previous hotel in Uzbekistan). On the check out we find the taxi on our bill (that we had to explain few times we would like to see before payment). The taxi price was taken out from the bill after our explanation so it’s ok. On the check out the card machine was broken so they said the taxi will drive us to the atm so we can pay with cash. Just what you want when you rush to the airport. Luckily we got dollars before coming to Uzbekistan.

We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. Modern, clean and nice room. Very helpful and polite staff. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of choices. Every room had a free 2 hours access to the pool, it was nice and intimate as you are alone. Location is great, 5 minutes walk to Registan. I recommend this hotel. Good value for money.

New well tidy hotel, it was a cuzy surprise. A real four star continental hotel. Nice room, perfect bathroom, everything properly equipped. We used the spa. It is a very elegant and high standard spa. Service, in particolare the concierge team, was professional, well educated and at an international level. The only default was that the usual hot breakfast wasn’t hot. On the other hand, even if we had to leave before breakfast time, they prepared two lunch bags for us.

- the pool is free only one hour a day. After one hour, you have to pay for using the pool. This is not mentioned on booking

If jacuzzi had warm water would be amazing.

The hotel is beautifully designed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The private pool and sauna is a great plus for relaxing after a long day visiting around, and the staff is always attentive and ready to respond. It actually looks better than the pictures. 100% recommend it
