Lala lodge Pemba Zanzibar

A wonderful budget property. The location is peaceful. The owner is present daily and happy to assist with coordinating excursions, answering questions & just generally engaging with the guests. The prices for the excursions were very fair and it was great to be able to split them with other guests. Every meal was excellent. Breakfast was included & the $10US charge for the communal dinner was a fantastic bargain… the property is just steps away from where the fisherman come in each day so it couldn’t get any fresher

The water pressure in my shower was very very low. I did not mention it to the owner until the morning I was leaving at which time he told me it was likely a matter of adjusting the settings on the equipment.

Pemba remains one of those off the beaten track and truly an African real experience. The lodge is strategically located at walking distance from the ferry pier. It has a wonderful veranda and is next to the local fish market. Dennis and Ilham do their best to make you feel like at home and arrange whatever you need. All food served is locally sourced and delicious. I can only recommend the place.

Rooms are basic but comfortable and have air conditioning.

Pemba is a very nice island is what we expected from Africa! Nice people very kind full of forests and stunning beaches. Mkoani is a traditional fishermen's village with unique agriculture images of fishermen's everyday life. And Lala lodge is an ideal place gives you the opportunity to experience the beauties of the island. As it is close to the port in a central place for the transportations. The owner is very kind and suggests great places all around the island, he can also arrange the tours for you!!

Denis is a wonderful owner who looks out for all his guests. The hotel is nicely situated at the end of a beach in a fishing village. The hotel is rustic and that is what makes it great - you feel like you are at home in Zanzibar not tucked away behind the walls of 5 star all inclusive hotel.

A beautiful spot walkable from the ferry and by the sea. Dennis was very attentive and encouraged guests to intermingle at dinner and breakfast, creating a relaxed atmosphere with free teas etc. Food cooked by Dennis was superb and was looked forward to by all the guests. He even packed us sandwiches when we left too early for breakfast. Trips offered were excellent. We were allowed to borrow some kayaks to play with in the bay. Felt like home.

Taxis can be unreliable. You need to allow plenty of time to get to the airport
