Uros Titicaca Lodge

Wat een plek!! Hadden we voor geen goud willen missen. Ook host Ivan was heel relax. Zijn vrouw kan heerlijk koken, dus genieten! Fijn dat de plek ook niet bij alle toeristenplekken van Uros ligt. Maar net iets verder weg. Ook een tour met Ivan was heel fijn. Woont er al heel zijn leven en kan er veel over vertellen. Raad het zeker aan!

Carlos and his family were great hosts! Always right on time for transfers, the food was good and he helped us arrange tours and taxi. If you want to rest, this is it!

The lodge is located in the middle of the lake far from everything, it is incredible. The housing are really well constructed and really comfortable in order to enjoy at 100% the beautiful landscapes. The family is really nice and helpful if you need anything. Thanks to them for the journey.

Chi fa un viaggio in Perù dovrebbe assolutamente includere una notte su queste isole. Luis ci è venuto a prendere al porto molto tardi ed è stato gentilissimo ad essere a nostra completa disposizione. La struttura è qualcosa di unico soprattutto al risveglio, nel silenzio più totale dell’ alba. Luis ci ha deliziato con un’ottima colazione. Lo consigliamo veramente come tappa obbligatoria.

Die Lage war sehr gut, das Bett bequem, die Aussicht aus der Unterkunft einmalig. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und haben mit uns eine private Bootstour durch die Uros Inseln gemacht und ein leckeres Abendessen gekocht. Obwohl es wie zu erwarten recht kalt war nachts bekamen wir Wärmflaschen mit denen die Nacht angenehm war.

Wir hatten während des Aufenthalts kein warmes Wasser. Wir haben jedoch von anderen Gästen gehört, dass sie vorher warmes Wasser hatten, deswegen könnte es auch nur ein temporäres Problem sein. Das Frühstück war ziemlich einseitig (Pancake mit Kuchen drauf, ein paar Stücke Banane und Mango und zwei trockene Brötchen). Die Kommunikation war manchmal etwas mühsam, wir mussten alles erfragen, wichtige Infos wurden immer nur auf Nachfrage mitgeteilt.

We loved how Carlos’s family interacted with us, provided boat rides to and from Puno and also Uros community (the highlight). The bed is amazingly good, the room was spacious. Breakfast was good but just need to be better coordinated. We had an amazing traditional boat ride - thanks Carlos for that! I do recommend this place at lake Titicaca.

Breakfast was served in parts and not necessarily in an appropriate order (pancakes came but not the utensils for example). Last day there wasn’t running water (we left at 9:30am).

The whole experience was great, from pick up to breakfast to organising tours for us. Hospitality of Ivan and Janet and their family was unmatched.

The island is far away from most of the Uros community. It’a very quiet and peaceful. We had a great time watching the sunrise, sunset, and moonlight. We enjoyed the lunch and dinner a lot. The food was simple but prepared with heart. The reed boat ride with Ivan, and the canoeing were the activities we enjoyed the most. It was very interesting to understand Ivan’s family and Uros' lifestyle during the ride. The canoe experience was very relaxing. My husband and I had a lot of fun. Ivan and his family are very nice. Ivan helped us arrange different transportation and also let us stay on the island after check-out to accommodate our needs.

Visiting the community was also interesting, but the gasoline smell from the motorboat with a cover made us a bit uncomfortable. The room needs some maintenance. Our terrace was very tilting so it was scary for us to use the sofa bed on the terrace - which was one of the most interesting amenities to me. There were also some wear and tear on the walls, windows and curtains. The lodge is run by a small family and there is quite a lot of maintaining work to keep all the rooms nice, as well as the floating island organized. They are in the process of moving some rooms so the island doesn't match the photos 100%. If you are looking for a quiet place with breathtaking views to stay, this is it. However, you need to keep in mind that this is a high maintaining island with limited resources. It’s not a 5-star hotel.
