"Another great visit"

10.0

On a beautiful but bitterly cold March afternoon my twin brother and I were pub hopping around this part of the city when we decided to drop by The Roman Bath Pub, been here before on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A great looking pub, since my last visit this pub has had a major makeover which is fantastic, interior is superb, light and airy, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, an added bonus is that this pub is built over a Roman baths dating from 71-122 A.D which is worth a visit in its own right, all in all its a great pub to unwind in. We had a study of their real ale's which I must say I was impressed with and in the end we both opted to have pale ale's from Timothy Taylor Landlord, these pale ale's were served in pristine condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, golden in colour, crisp in taste, hoppy, well balanced, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition by staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their pub. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here, couldn't fault anything about our visit to The Roman Bath Pub before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Roman Bath Pub is easy to locate on St Sampsons Square. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 10am till midnight. Friday & Saturday, 10am till 2am. Sunday, 10am till midnight. A great pub,one I highly recommend you seek out if you're planning a holiday to York.

"Look In The Cellar."

10.0

Me and my twin brother have visited York a good few time's over the year's and we visit some interesting pubs and bars from local pub's to historic pubs and craft beer pubs and bars and one we always visit is a local pub called the Roman Bath that has a very unique feature in the cellar. This is a superb local pub that has a really nice interior with local furnishings and nice decor relating to Yorks Roman roots. Its got superb seating areas throughout the pubs interior and it offers a superb range of well priced drinks and in the cellar there's a hot and cold Roman bathhouse dating from at least circa 71-122 AD. It's a unique feature and well worth visiting if your in this pub.We have been to this pub numerous times over the years and it's just as good now as when we first went to here many years ago.We visited here early on in the afternoon and it was busy but we were served in next to no time. When me and my twin visited this excellent pub we had a few glasses of amazing cask ales from the Timothy Taylor's brewery that were called Landlord which were perfectly served and price wise on a par with all the other pubs around this area of York. This is a fantastic pub with a piece of living history in the cellar and its a pub thats well worth going to if your in York.(This is my 2nd review of the Roman Bath). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-00.00. Friday-Saturday-10.00-02.00. Sunday-10.00-00.00.

"Good for music not the service."

2.0

Great music venue in the day and still has great bands on. Downside - overpriced drinks at the moment sterile environment. Far from friendly and the manager/ landlord can have an attitude to the general public. Not great customer service as the reviews show on here. Hosts so great bands from 9.30pm at times. I have had some great nights in this pub no question over the last 20 years.

"Bath and a Pint"

2.0

My wife and I decided it would be nice if we went for a bath and a pint. It was a shame they had run out of ale, but this was not our main concern. We discovered when we got there that the baths had not been refurbished for 1500 years. Absolutely disgraceful.

"Not good"

2.0

I went at noonish to have our lunch. I asked for a lager and tea for my wife. The barman said no tea "it is a pub you know". My wife settled for a soft drink. We drank up and left without having lunch.

"Great pub"

10.0

The Roman Bath Pub is a pub I always look forward to visiting on any trip to a York I take . I love the look of the pub, interior is superb,an island style serving bar, pubby decor and furnishings,tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub,one of the most distinctive features of the pub is the Great Wall art depicting scenes from the Roman times, this alludes to the Roman museum in the basement ,all in all it's a great pub to unwind in . We were here on a Monday afternoon,we ordered bitters from John Smiths Brewery, served in excellent condition,we chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. I enjoy a bitter every now and again ,a much underrated beer style in my opinion, when served freezing cold and in good condition as in this pub it's a totally refreshing brew. We really enjoyed our bitters in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to The Roman Bath Pub we had a great time. The Roman Bath Pub is easy to locate on St Sampsons Square. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday ,open from midday. Friday to Sunday ,open from 11am. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

"Quick pit stop"

8.0

Visited on a sunday afternoon for a quick bite to eat and a sit out of the cold. We opted for the bagutte and chips. 2 of us had the turkey...omg it was amazing, loads of meat, sausage stuffing and a pot of cranberry, all with gravy. Much more than i expected, but that is not a criticism, it was divine! My friend had the cheese one and said that too was great. Only £8.00 and came with a decent portion of chips. Pub was busy bit people seemed to be served quick and we didnt wait long at all for food. Will return, as location was great too
