Ekhaya Boutique Hotel

Booked here as the location was close to work. Staff were friendly enough but with room for improvement from some. Breakfast was tasty and well presented. The overall guest house was clean and room was well serviced.

The room provided all though clean should not be a guest room. Durban is humid and you need to open windows for fresh air. The room had a musty smell to it and could have been aired out in anticipation of our arrival. The real problem however is that once you open the windows all you can hear is the constant LOUD conversation between the staff. The kitchen is conveniently located directly behind the room and zero consideration is given to the guests need for sleep. This trend continues to any conversation the staff decide to have... it's meant to be a Boutique Hotel! Is it not common to maintain a calm a quiet setting to allow people to unwind after a working day... or even if they are on vacation? The WiFi is also poor and the signal doesn't reach all areas of the hotel, including the room I was staying in.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Ekhaya Boutique Hotel. Our interaction with each staff member was warm and welcoming, from the security guard on duty to housekeeping. Zanele and her team were exceptional. We really have nothing to fault. The rooms were spacious, each with their own ensuite, and lacked nothing. You can immediately tell, from the moment you enter the hotel, that the owner is well traveled as everything about the place, especially the amenities found in the rooms, were well thought through which often lack with other hotels. Everything you could possibly need to feel comfortable away from home is available in your room. The welcome biscuits in each room was a thoughtful touch and the breakfast was delicious. Visiting Ekhaya Boutique Hotel is definitely worth the stay.
