Mambo Paradise

Fantastic location of the hotel in the middle of a local village at the beach. Perfect host with the warmest welcome you can imagine and the way every single staff members treat you makes you feel king and queen. Amazing white beach in front of you with the magical sound of the waves of the Indian Ocean makes it a paradise and a must-stay when you are on the beautiful island of Zanzibar

Location: it may be different for everyone. It is located in a small fishing village. Step outside Mambo paradise you will immediately find yourself in the middle of the locals and their lives. It is the true Zanzibar. Staffs: very friendly and helpful. Katja, the captain of the hotel, is a star. She arranged everything we requested, big or small and reacted swiftly to any situation (a late taxi, air conditioning issue, etc). Facilities and convenience: we have everything we expected for the region (Africa) and the price we paid. I like the fact that how the hotel is structured: a few steps up from the rooms you reached the beautiful restaurant/lounge/roof top balcony, with nice breeze throughout the day and a heavenly view of the sea; coming out the of room within a few meters you will come out to the pool, then the back door directly to the beach. Water refill on both floors. Activities: with Katja’s magical power, we have experienced amazing Zanzibar-only activities, and everyone of them went so well because of her tips and the guides she arranged.

The food in the restaurant is good, but price higher than the restaurants in the neighbourhood and portions can be small. A minor suggestion: during this season that we visited, perhaps not a good idea to decorate the bed with flowers, which attracts a lot of little bugs. Nonetheless, it have to be said the the staffs decorated the beds so beautifully that we felt very welcome.

Asante sana Kasia and team! This is a phenomenal place. I was seeking serenity and beauty. As a solo traveler, I could not have felt safer. Great food (mango avocado salad, any of the soups), cocktails, and juices. Very nice and clean pool for lounging or cooling off. Other reviewers mentioned needing water shoes. They aren’t l necessary for a walk on the beach - there is bright white sand and very little seaweed. I also got to enjoy the water bc Mambo arranged a morning boat outing towards Mnemba Island that involved seeing dolphins, snorkeling, and visiting a sandbank (sandbar in the US?). Solomon was the guide, and he was very patient with me as a novice snorkeler who kept needing adjustments to my equipment. This place is not removed from local life. This is a fishing village (though there was no fish smell), and you will see really young boys learning how to fish and playing soccer on the beach. Kasia and Pawel were very responsive to any questions I had about the island. Juma and Pandu (silent ‘d’?) are so kind and took care of whatever I needed Sarah was really lovely to chat with when I came or went from the beach.

Mambo is charming through and through. Not a single complaint.

The Mambo Paradise is a great place to stay. Located right by the beach and surrounded by a lot of life and local colour, it really is the best of both worlds. It is a great place to relax and enjoy all that Zanzibar has to offer.

I didn't like having to leave this wonderful place. The beautifully blue ocean, the white and bright beach and the gently blowing breeze made it a paradise for sure. Who would want to leave paradise?

We had a very warm welcome with a little mocktail on the arrival. The room was very clean, with sea front view. The restaurant has amazing Swahili food, on a really nice rooftop!

There's not much not to like, but on the day of our arrival the pool wasn't very clean. The next morning they cleaned it.

The food was exceptional, the restaurant closes late which was such a convenience because we arrived late. The staff and owners where very welcoming. The staff was friendly enough to organize a tour for us at last minute. My husband and I enjoyed our stay, wish we stayed longer.

We arrived late in the evening, the road to the hotel was dark with not enough signage we got lost several times, but eventually made it with the help of locals.
