The Stump Cross inn

Set back off the main road is this delightful, friendly Inn, the aroma of delicious food and the comfortable interior similar to that of a Country pub was very pleasing. We were met by Mathew (I think the manager) who greeted us with a very warm and welcoming smile. He personally showed us to our rooms (next to each other as we had requested) and went through how to use the shower and showed us the electrical points and how to use the TV. He also surprisingly (a first in any hotel we have stayed in) , pointed out the fire escapes etc. The room itself was a little dated but clean and fresh towels and soap was provided in the bathroom. There were tea and coffee making facilities also. The beds were so comfortable and allowed a fantastic nights sleep so much so that a member of our party asked Mathew where he could purchase the same matres. The bar and restaurant area was very busy so I would imagine that you would be better off booking and whilst we did not eat that evening at the Inn (had another party to go to) having a drink in the bar the food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked and smelt delicious. We did have the full English breakfast the following morning and can honestly say it was superb and cooked to perfection. Anyone wanting a stay or even just somewhere to eat then I would recommend this little Inn to you, we will definitely be returning

The rooms could probably be updated to match the interior down in the pub area. The furniture was a little outdated but the rooms were clean and other than that there is nothing else I would change

Room satisfactory, ensuite satisfactory, nice hot shower.

Noisy traffic as on the main busy road, the room needs black out curtains as the traffic in the dark has the head lights of the cars coming into the room.

Lovely, helpful staff and a good pub dinner. Comfortable room with necessary facilities.

It's a good location, near a main road, with pub downstairs that's serves food. Room was a good size as for one person, with TV and ensuite.

I had two big problems in regards to the room. 1) it was to hot without possibility to change temperature, heating was on all night, had to open window and keep it open when it was really cold outside and you could hear cars passing. 2) there is no mobile phone signal in the building at all.

Excellent friendly staff. Good food and drink. Comfortable bed.

The room was very hot, opened the window and it was fine.
