"Very friendly staff, excellent food!"

Excellent food, though I only managed about 1/2 of it!

Rooms could do with a bit of updating

"Great place for one night stay. Room basic but clean and has tea/coffee with friendly bar and staff."

6.0

Worth paying extra and staying for breakfast. Staff very attentive and friendly. Bus stop across road.

Room was clean with but could do with a freshening up of the décor. On very busy road junction.

"No sleep, needs updating"

2.0

-The Inn itself was very pretty from the outside, including the location surrounding it -The waiting/housekeeping ladies were both very pleasant to speak to -Only a £6.50 taxi to the piece hall

-Bed felt like being on a rollercoaster, constant shaking from side to side at the slightest movement, also felt like I was falling off as it was dinted in one side -Extremely outdated room, no table to eat food on, no hairdryer, shampoo, only one small towel provided. Could not wash hair. -Kettle dirty, lots of condensation inside -Paper thin walls- could hear everything other guests were saying and one guest repeatedly kept banging their door so hard my key actually fell out of the door handle which startled me at the time -Mold in bathroom, bathroom outdated- looks as though it hasn't been for atleast 20 years -Absolutely 0 signal in the area, wifi very poor -Window doesn't close properly, could hear the busy main road all night including cars blasting music -Manager blasts music from 9am from the outside speakers, which are directly next to the window, even though the pub does not open until 12pm. I was checking out at 10am anyway so this did not bother me but if I had been staying another night this is absolutely not acceptable, some guests may still want to sleep at that time (not that I got any sleep anyway) -Manager also seemed annoyed he had brought my food I had ordered up to me because due to lack of signal I did not receive notification it had arrived. -Overall worst nights sleep i've ever had in a hotel and does not reflect the £70 price tag at all, needs updating

"Big pub with large car park. Great food and staff."

8.0

Large pub with excellent food and nice staff. Rooms were good for the price, £60 for a single room with bathroom. Very close to Piece Hall.

Couple of broken items int he room, but didn’t really mind as it was very cheap.

"Disappointing stay, not good value for money"

3.0

The staff in the bar were really friendly and helpful. The location was good to Shibden Hall and The Piece Hall

The bed was too soft, felt like I was on a trampoline. The towels were grey not white and had a funky smell on them, luckily I had taken one of my own towels with me,glad I did. The rooms are dated and worn. The major issue for me as a female solo traveller was that on returning to The Stump Inn at 1am after a concert it was all locked up and I was not informed on arrival how to access the property after hours. For nearly 30 minutes I was looking around to see where I could get in, it was deserted and no one around which was a bit scary. I finally decided to go up stairs which were the fire escape and luckily the door there was open. I did tell the manager the next morning and he apologised. That is essential to tell people that given it is a pub and will close. Overall I would not recommend staying there as it wasn’t good value for money. Only thing I got told when I was shown to my room was that if I wanted breakfast it was £10.
