Whalley Abbey - B&B and Retreat House

stayed 2 nights as we were going to a wedding in clitheroe, excellent location and breakfast was amazing.

How often do you get the opportunity to stay overnight in an historical abbey.

Peaceful place to stay. Beautiful grounds to walk around or just sit and relax.

The property is stunning, and I loved the sense of trust and freedom to move about the property and grounds. The gardens are beautiful, creating a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. The rooms and bathrooms are quite basic, but comfortable enough, particularly if you're spending most of your day out sightseeing and exploring. What really stood out was the staff's willingness to accommodate our request for glassware for my daughter's leavers' ball pre-drinks. They happily provided everything we needed at no additional cost, which was greatly appreciated and helped make the occasion even more special.

The helpful lady on duty (my apologies, I can't remember her name) seemed to be managing an enormous amount on her own, which didn't appear particularly practical. At times she seemed understandably a little frazzled, but given the workload she was carrying, I certainly couldn't blame her. She remained friendly and helpful regardless

Loved the place. So peaceful and lovely gardens. Close to the centre of Whalley and the bus station and train station. Great place for a rest, a break a retreat or just overnight stay.

Confusing check-in. Nobody welcomed me, which i found disappointing especially with it being a retreat house. Also when I left there was no interest in whether I had enjoyed my stay or not. Saw very little of any staff. I didn't have any meals so maybe that's why I didn't see the staff? Despite this, I would definitely return.
