Hacienda Guachipelin Volcano Ranch Hotel & Hot Springs

I planned a one-night stopover at Guachipelin to break up the travel between Monteverde and our final destination at Papagayo, and chose Hacienda Guachipelin without much thought. What a mistake - this ended up being one of our favorite places in Costa Rica, and we only had one night here! The hotel is extremely charming - rooms are rustic but spotlessly clean, with a comfy hammock and chairs out front - but the real highlight is the access you have to all of the activities around you. We only had time to hike to Oropendola Waterfall, Las Chorotegas Waterfall, and the Rio Negro hot springs - but WOW! The hot springs, in particular, were fantastic. There are pools with many different temperature options and I personally liked them more than the fancier hot springs at Tabacon (though there is no swim up bar at Rio Negro!). The hotel also has a cute little pool and several dining options. We only had time for dinner and breakfast at the main restaurant, but it was delicious, and the service was great. Can't wait to come back and try more of the hotel's activities!

Beautiful property with wonderful amenities and service. Excellent location for national park access as well as hotel’s waterfalls and hot springs. Delicious buffet breakfast included.

Glamping at Hacienda Guachepelin was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We stayed in the spacious luxury tent for 5 nights and enjoyed all the amenities. We feel like we had 5 days in paradise. The plunge pool was a great way to cool off after a hot hike. We loved sitting out on the lawn chaises to watch and listen to the birds. One day at breakfast, an entire troop of capuchin monkeys entertained us in the trees. It was a special treat to get the sumptuous breakfast delivered to our tent every morning. Our only criticism would be that there was way too much food. We were often able to save some for our lunch. Food portions at the Guachepelin Restaurant were also large so we usually shared a main course. Our tent was a great base from which we hiked to the various waterfalls, the Red and Turquoise Ponds, participated in the tubing adventure, and soaked in the hot springs. The shuttle buses worked well for us. Carlos at the Reception desk was very helpful and friendly. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.

Mitten im Nationalpark gelegen. Viele Möglichkeiten die umliegenden Wasserfälle, heißen Tubes über Wanderwege zu erkunden. Wenn man sich ein bisschen antizyklisch verhält, ist man teilweise auch allein an den Spots. Die Oropendulas in den großen Bäumen beobachten und zu hören, ist toll. Im Restaurant etwas trubelig und recht wenig Auswahl am Buffet. Wir waren beide Abende im Spezialitäten-Restaurant, dass aber von der Qualität auch besser sein könnte.

Die Atmosphäre am Pool ähnelt einem amerikanischen Resort. Die Wege zu den Naturschauspielen könnten besser ausgeschildert sein. Auf den Zufahrten dahin sieht man einiges an Industrie, was uns nicht gefallen hat und im Nationalpark auch nichts zu suchen hat.

ontbijt was lekker. zeer goede kamers, zeer goede douche. Handig systeem voor handdoeken. Prachtige locatie.

Bij diner was niet alles wat op de kaart stond, beschikbaar (er waren geen bananen dus kon het dessert niet gemaakt worden..., wat toch wat vreemd is in CR) . Dec sleutel van de kamer is heel groot wat niet echt praktisch is om mee te nemen de hele dag.

Top Lage zum Vulkanpark Rincon de la vieja. Nur 10 Minuten entfernt. Einige Sehenswürdigkeiten ( v.a. die heißen Quellen beim Rio Negro) sind inclusive. Große komfortable Zimmer in ruhiger Lage. Sehr gutes Frühstück.

Das Restaurant Nekajui hat ein schlechtes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Der Service war etwas langsam.

Zimmer relativ groß, aber kein besonderer Komfort. Frühstück als Buffet gut und mit großer Auswahl. Sogar mit frischer Eierzubereitung. Abendessen entweder Buffet (zu teuer) oder a la carte. Direkte Umgebung sehr schön. Man kann entweder zu Fuß erkunden, oder mit dem Auto etwas weiter fahren. Tolle Natur!

Beim Abendessen voll und teilweise sehr laut, da viele Familien mit Kindern. Zimmerbeleuchtung war nicht richtig gut.

Beautiful and all the waterfalls are stunning and so fun to swim in! We also hiked the volcano and saw monkeys. Plus the hot springs were fantastic- the kids loved the mud full body mask.
