"Great location, comfortable room and friendly staff."

Great location. Good views from room. Friendly staff.

A small fridge in the room with fresh milk and a place to store valuables would be good.

Breakfast was lovely - highly recommend the full English. The room was nice and the location of the hotel was great!

Watch out if roadside parking - if you park under trees be aware there are some large birds that live in them!😆

Le petit déjeuner

D'être près de la porte d'entrée du couloir extrêmement bruyante. Lit inconfortable. Porte de la chambre qui fermait mais peu sécurisante de par sa vétusté.

"Room 26"

8.0

Staff very helpful, especially the receptionist with assisting with evening meal brought to room when my partner was unwell. Asked if there was anything else we needed to help her feel better.

Bathroom shower cubicle could do with dirt cleaning which is clearly visible at the bottom of shower unit (outside) fresh sealant would make huge difference.

"Really lovely overall, one night pitstop super close to the castle"

Great breakfast, large cooked menu and lovely continental

Paint on skirting boards etc could do with a retouch to make it feel cleaner (felt a little worn)

"Just a Bit of a Shame…"

4.0

We were driving up to Scotland to visit family and decided to break up the journey with a night in Bamburgh. We’d heard great things about the area but had never visited ourselves, so it felt like the perfect excuse to stop over and explore. After looking at a few options, the Victoria Hotel seemed to tick all the boxes; central location, private parking, and solid reviews. Yes, it was a little pricey for a 3-star hotel, but sometimes it’s worth treating yourself. Looking back, I probably should’ve taken the payment issues as a warning sign. Trying to book the room with my NatWest card turned into over an hour of back-and-forth between the bank and the hotel staff before we finally managed to confirm the booking. Then, on arrival, we were told the payment hadn’t actually gone through and I needed to pay again. That immediately left a sour taste, especially after spending so long trying to sort it beforehand. What made it worse was the receptionist loudly saying, “It actually said declined payment,” in front of other guests and my wife. I stayed calm, paid again, and tried to move on, although that becomes relevant later. To give credit where it’s due, the room itself was clean, tidy, and genuinely lovely. Unfortunately, we happened to visit during a heatwave, and with no air conditioning we needed to open the window. For £160 a night including breakfast - and at this point £320 temporarily out of my account due to the payment confusion - I was hoping for at least a decent view or some peace and quiet. Instead, the room overlooked a roof with a loud air conditioning/wiring unit directly outside the window. Not exactly relaxing. That said, Bamburgh itself is absolutely beautiful. The beach was the highlight of the trip and well worth visiting. I’d probably skip paying £19.50 per person for the castle again though - especially having visited quite a few castles around the UK over the years. It felt a little underwhelming inside. The views from the castle, however, are stunning and easily the best part. On a sunny day it’s an amazing place for a picnic. When we got back from exploring, we decided to have dinner and drinks at the hotel. This was probably the final surprise of the stay. Two mains (a burger and a salad) plus two beers came to £77.10. Now, I’m not against paying for quality. My wife and I live in Fulham, both work good jobs, and we’re fortunate enough to live comfortably. But even with that perspective, the pricing felt excessive. I genuinely pay less for a Sunday lunch for two at some excellent pubs in London one of the most expensive parts of the country. The food was good, but the value for money just didn’t feel quite right. Overall, Bamburgh itself was fantastic, but the experience at the Victoria Hotel never really lived up to the price tag or expectations. It’s a swerve from me!

Location was excellent local to the castle.

Tables and chairs odd height in restaurant making it uncomfortable to eat, minor issue really.!
