Hotel Ristorante Ca' Nova

The breakfast was nice, especially the bread.

The toilet keep running after it was flashed and the aircon did not work. We also could not open the window.

The room and the balcony was perfect for a leisure or work trip.

We had a last minute change of plans when our hotel booking in Venice got cancelled, so we had to find a new place to stay quickly. Luckily, we found Hotel Ristorante Ca' Nova in Mestre, just a short 14-minute bus ride to the island for only 1.5 euros. The room was decently sized with a spacious balcony, and we were happy to have a fridge and TV (although only Italian channels). The shower was nice and didn't leak, and the staff was friendly and even provided us with hot water for our tea each day. The only downside was no kettle in the room, but overall, we had a pleasant stay.

When we arrived at the hotel after 5:00 pm, we found that it was closed and no one responded when we rang the bell. Another guest who was also trying to check in approached us, mentioning that they had been waiting in their car for 20 minutes. We tried calling the host's number, but a lady from another hotel answered and suggested that the staff might be on a siesta break. She promised to let them know. After waiting for another 15 minutes, someone finally opened the door and helped us check in. However, we did notice that the furniture in the room was quite old and not as clean as we had hoped for.

Nothing

Everything. On arrival there was a woman partaking in sexual acts outside. The staff took pictures of me and my mums passport pictures on his personal phone without any explanation. Dust, dirt and black crust all over the mirrors, surfaces, walls and the corners. Mould on the walls and the fridge stank of mould. Wallpaper peaking in multiple places. Door handle unscrewed multiple times, and the wall paper peeled. Not disability friendly either. Also the ceiling was open with steps or a ladder inside. Both my mother and I were very unsettled by the place and felt very unsafe the the entire time. Had to stop a member of staff from coming into our room, after saying no to cleaning, not quite sure what they were cleaning as it was filthy.

Everything was good. Staff very friendly and informative. Karina was super helpful. Small hotel but very nice and cosy. Perfect for our short stay. Our breakfast wasn't included in the price unfortunately which was pity since the week we arrived breakfast is included in the offer. We paid €12 per person for continental breakfast which was nice but very basic.

Outstanding dinner

Kind staff and the owner. Our room was well equipped. It was also cleaned and supplied with the utilities every day. The property was also easy to find and well communicated as the bus stop is near.

The distance to Venice was very long and it is not like a hotel at all, it is more like a hostel. Even inside the corridor, there was not enough light and there was a closet in the middle of the corridor, which hurt my face.
