Kasteeltje Hattem

This is probably one of the nicest places to eat in Roermond. The castle dates from the 18th century and is run by the current operators since 2004. The castle is located in the centre of a parc and surrounded by water. It has been renovated already earlier but recently the restaurant has been beautifully extended. On nice days you can sit outside under the old trees. Plates are fine and price/quality is ok. Can certainly recommend, if you visit Roermond,you should have lunch or dinner here, additionally you can sleep in the outbuilding.

This is a beautiful place with the restaurant floor located within a small castle just outside the city centre. We were heartedly welcomed and brought to the room with an impressive bar. Diner followed with steak tartare and skrei (fish). The surrounding is star worthy, the menu was fine but missed a certain refinement to go for the extra mile. I enjoyed the hospitality and the atmosphere was nice

Dinner with friends. Very nice atmosphere and romantic location. Great hospitality. Yet there are some improvements that could have made the evening perfect. To start with the amuses. Or better not the amuses, as there weren't. We started with Champagne, which was good but somehow overpriced, and before we finished our glasses the first course was served. Regrettably the plates where cold and so was the dish, sole fillet, which was intended to be served hot. Yet, the taste and presentation where good. Wine pairings also good and plenty. Next dish, seabass, was served at the right temperature. Yte, the pairings were quite similar to the first dish. The main dish, deer, was excellent. Grand dessert was also very tastfull. Overall price/quality at Michelin star level, which did not (yet) give value for money.

Another lunch, salade riche remains an all time favourite, fresh local food and the chef is way above average with fish (never had any meat for lunch here). Service excellent as always, very busy place but never looks that busy.

We arrived unannounced around 20.30 at the hotel, just to try our luck and see if they had a room and so they did!. That day (boxing day) the restaurant was full and all parking spots seemed to be full, however the owner came out to show us the way to another spot after which the staff came to get the room ready as soon as possible. We had two little ones with us so the sooner the better and it all was done quickly and efficient. The room is spacious, you have a sitting area and the sleeping part, which is devided by a wall. All was clean, the bed was big and comfortable, the bathroom with jaccuzi was fine and allmost all that we wanted was there (I only missed a water cooker and they, instead we had only an espresso machine which I find handy too, but choice is better). We slept well, had no issues with the train that is not too far away and enjoyed the breakfast. A very nice stay close to roermond, If you go to the outlet or the old center and you want to have a nice stay and some peace this is the place to be... a Nice little castle with only 8 hotelrooms and a nice restaurant!. Really something to recommend in this part of the Netherlands.

Small 'castle' in a quiet park. Private parking on the premises. Very friendly staff. The rooms (in the ancient coach building) are luxurious, big and quiet and there's free wifi. We had a whirlpool in the bath. Good bedding! The restaurant serves very delicious food. We had the 5 course set menu. The starter (game paté) was rather simple, but everything that followed was perfect! Small but surprising wine list with lots of wines to discover at very reasonable prices. Breakfast is served at the table, with fresh juice and egg preparations to choose from.

Had a great lunch there last week, though business oriented I can imagine couples enjoying dinner here. Certainly one of the most beautiful places in Holland to enjoy a garden lunch or dinner. Service is excellent, hospitality with a capitol H.

Spend there one night, very large room, more modern suite style, fully equipped in beautiful surroundings a little outside Roermond. We had dinner in the evening, 4 course, with outstanding food and wine. Perfect breakfast the next morning, all in all an excellent price to quality ratio incl. friendly and helpful service.

Had the good luck to savour for a third time a gastronomic weekend at Kasteeltje Hattem, located outside the city of Roermond in a nice park. Again were greeted and shown the way to your room very friendly. Rooms were outstanding, in fact more suite than room. Lots of space, nice furniture, a superb comfortable bed, a roomy; modern and well equiped bath room with jacuzzi bath tub and "rituals brand" products. The 4 course gastronomic diner with matching wines was perfect. Nice dishes and very good wines. Perfect timing in between the courses. Good staff. Very quiet night. Breakfast served at your table with enough quantities and eggs prepared freshly on request. Really the top, cannot wait to return.

We had lunch here with 4 persons. From the menucard. Good food and good wines. Excellent price to quality. Especially the oysters were superb with surprisingly vegetables! Service is friendly. Location is historic beauty. Will go back soon!
