"Nice hotel in beautiful surroundings."

6.0

Stayed here 1 night during a short visit to the area. The park in which the hotel is situated is beautiful and from the bedroom windows you have the idea you're in the middle of the woods. My bedroom was huge, with a comfortable bed, sofa and a large bathroom. The room was in the carriage house and unfortunately staff had neglected to turn on the heater, so when I arrived at 8 pm the room was quit chilly and took a long time to reach a comfortable temperature. The only way to keep warm was to get into bed, at which point I fund out that the TV was not working. Someone from reception tried to fix it, to no avail. This day and age unacceptable in my view. No apologies or compensation were offered. Breakfast was tasty, staff friendly. Wifi speed was free of charge, speed reasonable. The hotel has potential but really needs to step up to the plate in order to live up to the expectations one has when looking at their rates.

"Great hotel with wonderful restaurant"

10.0

This was my 2nd stay at the Kasteeltje Hattem. The property is moated and possibly a baronial hall by origin. The rooms, or should I say suites, are located in two buildings either side of the Kasteel. These are clean and generously proportioned, with most offering clients the benefits of a jaccuzi bath tub. Enough about the rooms - for me it is the restaurant that makes this property my "hotel of choice" in the Roermond area. Whilst the menu selection is extensive it is the "menu du jour" that is truly exceptional. Trust me, put your trust in the chefs who make up this wonderful gastronomic assemblage - which I believe changes daily. The wine selection is equally impressive. It's unusual to find Chateau Segur being offered as a "house wine" - this in itself is testament to the high quality offered by this establishment. One minor gripe, however. The property is located near a busy railway line. If you want a quiet room I would advise requesting a room in the block furthest away from the railway line. Would I stay again that the Kasteeltje Hattem? Most definitely.

"Highly Recommended. Excellent re-invention of a noble house!"

10.0

This noble villa, vith two stables and a small green park lays on a tiny island outside the center of Roermond. It has been transformed into a raffinated, few rooms boutique hotel. One of the best I remember, in the four starts category. For sure the atmosphere, the charm, the service deliver a value that overtakes many 5 stars hotels. POSITIVE: location, the green park around it, the gardens and the tree lanes that welcome you to the hotel. my room, at the ground floor of one of the mews was a splendid suite with design items of first quality, fine lights and very comfortable and large bathrooms. They were smart enough to keep old windows -truly charming. The restaurant was a wonderful experience too, for food quality and service. Price was very attractive and makes it sensed to change a trip route to stay here. NEGATIVE: can't think of anything. CONCLUSIONS: This place is ideal for Business travellers, gourmet-Tourists and definitely for romance. I rarely enjoyed a business trip-stop like this one. Highly recommended.

"I want to stay here again!"

8.0

I found this hotel through the roermond outlet website. And boy, am I glad I did. Location: I had a car so location was not a big issue. However, if anyone is planning on walking to the outlet -- it is a lonnnnnnng walk. (I'd think a difficult walk with shopping bags) I drove into the small castle -- the pictures you see of the property with 3 buildings -- the left and right rectangular buildings are the hotel rooms (4 rooms to a building. 2 floors to a building. No elevators). I stayed on the first floor and the suite was huge. The view wasn't that great and at times I had to keep the curtains shut for privacy because the windows looked out into the drive way. Check in was easy and extremely informal. There are no signs in the property about where to check in -- so I walked up the stairs of the center building (the castle). I had to look around for someone because there's no check in desk but a cashier desk for the restaurant inside instead. I found someone -- he asked for my name and then walked me to my room. Simple!! My room: huge sofa. Space space space. It was probably around 50 to 60 square meters. Huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath. The bed was really soft but yet supportive for me. Though because it was so soft -- those who don't like soft beds may not like it. The decor was shabby chic modern yet homey. (It is not brand new -- but well kept and comfortably lived in.) Dinner (included in the package I booked): amazing. I'd go back for the food. The only unsettling thing during dinner was the fact that my 3 course meal was a surprise. They wouldn't tell me what I would be getting. Didn't like that too much. They just asked what i don't eat. I said seafood, and specifically squid. They didn't cook me squid but i got 2 dishes with fish. A little strange given that i said i'm not a fan of sea food. But the food was amazing. Phew. Single supplement: I traveled alone. And there is this supplement of 90 euros if you are solo. It doesn't make sense to me because the dinner was included and they had to make food for just one person instead of 2. But anyways... It all worked out because the food was wonderful. Service: to put it bluntly, they don't get in your face. But at times it was a little too distant. I didn't get info on wifi (oh and wifi over at my room (#2) was very bad) or my free parking pass for the outlet. Each time I went to the 'castle' to ask -- I had to look around to find someone. I didn't mind it. But just a heads up if you're expecting someone waiting on you at every moment. Would I stay here again? Yes yes yes. (Although this place is a tie with the hotel dux (also reviewed) in roermond as well.)

"Perfect , love it!"

10.0

Kasteeltje Hattem has been our favorite restaurant for many many years. Both our children had their (international ) weddings here : 2 absolutely perfect occasions. The staff went out of their way to make these weddings unforgettable. Many of our guests came from overseas and stayed three nights in the suites next to the small castle. They really enjoyed it. Quality of the friendly and excellent service is constant. Daan and Frank are the most personal and friendly hosts I can imagine. They know how to please . In summer time you can sit and eat under the ancient trees in the garden, part of the town's park. Although the passing of trains ( when sitting outside) at a nearby track can be a bit of a nuisance , but after 3 trains one doesn't hear them anymore ! Ambiance is very tasteful, not overdone, just right ( also for more casual lunch or diner), with a touch of fresh flowers and modern art. We simply love this Gem and eat here very regularly. It is by far my favorite place in Roermond.

"Top restaurant,,super locaties"

10.0

By chance in Roermond, Hattem was suggested by a friend. We took just their lunch card, which is not too complicated, with excellent bread and salad choices. The food was fine, but most impressive was the well dressed, polite waiters and waitress. Compliments to this establishment for getting the formula for eating out to such an outstanding level. Price quality,,excellent.

"Ancient & Modern Luxury"

10.0

We stayed at this hotel purely by chance (we usually stay in an american chain of hotels which were fully booked) and what a fortunate experience it was. The hotel which is an old castle only has eight or nine guest bedrooms so personal service is a given. The hotel location could not be better, just a few minutes from the town centre, in a park and bordering countryside. The staff are an asset to the hotel being friendly and informative. We were greeted by two friendly pot belly pigs!!! Our room was clean and luxurious including a kingsize + bed, a lounge area and a spa bath. We had dinner in the obviously popular restaurant, which boasts a small but comprehensive menu, with food of the highest standard which could only be described at the least as fine dining. The only suggestion I could make for improvement would be for the inclusion of coffee making facilities in the bedrooms, as at present there are none.

"Excellent restaurant"

10.0

The review is about the restaurant. This marvelous restaurant is just outside the city of Roermond in a small “castle”. Especially in the summer this is the place to be. You can sit in the garden underneath old trees in a very quit surrounding. The only things is that is close to the rail so every now and then the silence is disrupted by a train. But as it is a restaurant, food is most important. This is in one word excellent. We had a 4 course dinner with wines. Just great. Very relaxed atmosphere. Prices are in the upper range. However definitively worth paying for. Nice hosts. You really feel welcome. Also the lunches are great We will definitively come back. Hope for some nice weather in September to enjoy the garden again. Otherwise it is time to discover the inside restaurant.
