Sutherlands Hotel

This was in the nature of an emergency booking to enable me to stay 1 night in Gateshead near to a bus route to the town centre, necessitated by the lack of a late train home from Newcastle (are you listening, LNER?). I could not find anything cheaper at the time of booking TWO MONTHS ahead of my visit date. The room, at least, was spacious, as was the ensuite.

This is a suburban pub-with-accommodation. It was a Saturday. There was a noisy family with children in an adjacent room (which seemed to be the only other one occupied). I still paid £85 (room only).

Great location for a night out, lovely staff and a tv in the room that supports a ps2 for pre drinking :-)

It was bit noisy on my arrival but there was an event which is understandable

the friendly staff and bar on site, good value.
