White Villa Kitulgala

It was one of our nicest stays in Sri Lanka so far. Nice view from the balcony and a small creek with pools to swim in right next to the bungalow. Rangi was super helpful and nice. The food was also very good.

Price was slightly higher then written in booking.com. Also drinks for dinner are restaurant prices - which is totally fine, but you should know it in advance.

We had a great time at White Villa Kitulgala! The host is super friendly and even brought us some tea and chocolate pancakes unexpectedly. It is located nearby a river and it is very fun to go for 'fish therapy'. Highly recommended!

This is a hidden gem 💎 tucked away in the hills with a beautiful setting overlooking the jungle and a stream running below with fish that clean your feet! The owners daughter was so helpful and cooked us a barbecue on the one night we were there. When we couldn't get a taxi to Kandy Ranji's father, drove us there. I could have easily stayed longer. They only accept cash after reservation with booking.com and would suggest getting a card reader for payment. I couldn't do a bank transfer, so I had to go to the cash point, but it wasn't too much drama.

For me the location was perfect. If you like peace and quiet away from lots of tourists then it’s a perfect location. It is a bit of a distance from Kitulgala if not but there’s a bus stop conveniently at the end of the road (only a short walk..ask about the shortcut) busses pass very regularly which you can flag down (a great experience with the locals who kindly often offered to give up their seat for me) …or there’s the option of Tuk Tuks parked around if you prefer. The bungalow itself was absolutely beautiful with a large balcony over looking the jungle. Despite the humidity I slept comfortably with the doors open all night listening to the sounds of the jungle which allowed a cool breeze to keep it a comfortable temperature to sleep. If not there’s a fan you can use but I preferred the windows open. (No animals came in) The shower was absolutely amazing. Loads of hot water with great pressure (modern power shower) The room was clean and tidy with good lighting, plenty of space for clothes and plenty of plug sockets. It also had a good hairdryer and mosquito net. The bed was also comfortable. Last but not least there was Rangi!! She was amazing. Her communication from booking with them was excellent and would regularly WhatsApp me beforehand and answer any questions I had (quickly too) she saved me from a scammer in Colombo who told me there was no direct busses to Kitulgala but she replied straight back to me so I could safely get away from that man and onto a direct public bus. she works so hard to keep her guests happy and appreciates any feedback to help her improve things. Her father was so friendly and helpful and her mother is a great cook. The dinner was a very reasonable price for the amount I got served and The breakfast is quite big which includes plenty of toast and fruit (and tea) She gave me advice about things to do in the area.

Super friendly family and staff. Great food (breakfast & dinner) accommodating your wishes and preferences. Nice shared seating area. Tea & cookies upon arrival. Very quiet place.

Moisture and air quality in the room. Fan super loud cannot be used. No aircon against the moisture.

Absolutely amazing location, great little villa to live in right inside the rainforest, and the niiiicest hosts ever. Food was also great with a BBQ dinner and good breakfast. 10/10, will come here again if we ever go to Kitulgala once more.

The villa location is magical. Nestled in the trees with a stunning view. There’s a stream running in the valley just below the villa where they’ve made a small dam for bathing - this is pretty special. The host, Rangi, made our stay a memorable one. Great communication over WhatsApp before we arrived. She helped us arrange rafting and canyoning at a great price with the best guides! We had such a fun time. Breakfast and dinner for two nights. Rangi was a big part of the experience for us. When Rangi left for working in Colombo on our second day, we didn’t feel quite as looked after due to language barrier with the rest of the family.

We loved our stay here! The owners are so lovely, Rangi is an incredible host and the food prepared by her mum was delicious. The place is surrounded by nature and they have a little fresh water pond next to the property. Views are amazing and is a really peaceful place. They have arranged rafting and canyoning for us at a really good price. 100 % recommended!
