This place was truly amazing. It is a heritage house. We had great experience. The food was amazing, both dinner and breakfast. Must recommended place.

We had a wonderful stay at Kumarakom Wood Castle! The breakfast was by far the best we had during 2 weeks travelling through Kerala. The owner and his wife makes for a dynamic team who are professional and very helpful with arranging taxi's, House boat stays and interesting places to visit. The property is a beautiful traditional wooden Kerala house with many interesting features like an antique shop and an amazing museum on the top floor! This is a must visit. We arrived as strangers but left as friends. Thank you for giving us the best Kerala experience.

The hotel is perfectly kept. The manager is very welcoming and accommodating. Her home-made breakfasts are excellent. She gives good advice on walks. What's more, the shop downstairs and the museum on the 2nd floor are very interesting. The 2 helpers are very friendly.

The host were really friendly and felt like home. The ambience of a wooden Kerala house brought back to me so many fond memories of my childhood. The place is nearby to boat jetties and so many eateries ...it helps you to explore the place more. The place also has an antique shop and a museum which was cherry on top:)

The place was close to everything Including the bird sanctuary and the backwater boat rides. It was so cultural and beautiful I would highly recommend a stay there.

"Friendly and fabulous home"

Lovely small homestay run by a wonderful family, who took care of my every need (and more) as a solo female traveler. Walking distance to the bird sanctuary (a little dilapidated but worth it for the stork colony) and the lakeshore, and perfect location for walking or cycling along various canals (bikes and directions provided for free). Room was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfasts were fabulous too, as well as conversations with the hosts, who built this charming "wooden castle" as a labor of love. Highly recommended!

Everything was excellent - only not recommended to visit in April heat (but no fault of property)!
