Amazing accommodation, very warm owners

Such a pretty wooden building, which has been built with real attention to detail. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We had great ayurvedic treatments at the spa a couple of minutes walk from the property and also went on an excellent early morning shikkara trip, which was organised by the owner. The owners were friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Room was a bit dusty with an empty water bottle left on top of the wardrobe!

Our stay here was lovely. Perfect location to explore the backwaters and the property has bikes you can borrow! Host was very accommodating and made the best breakfasts every morning.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the room was a great size and the bed was really comfortable. We had the best sleep we’ve had in 5 weeks in India here as it was comfortable, quite and it was dark even in the mornings (you don’t get these 3 things in most hotels in India!) there was always hot water and the room was really clean. Liji was lovely and made a lovely breakfast, she also kindly helped us with recharging our SIM cards and sorting a tuktuk to the bus station. We accidentally left with our room key and they were so nice about it - we offered to post it back but they took care of it. We would stay here again if in kumarakom… oh and we loved using the free bicycles to cycle the backwaters which was one of our favourite times in all of our trip!

Nothing about the property we didn’t like but there isn’t many restaurants near by - we found a nice one up the road (kumarakom kitchens) and ate there 3 times.

Extremely kind and thoughtful hosts. Everyone at the property went out of their way to make sure our stay was a great one. Lovely and generous breakfast. Great location. Building was a labour of love and reflects traditional style of Kerala.

The room is quite dark as it has only a small window facing the balcony The location is great for exploring the surrounding but not special itself as it is right at the main road

The family and staff running Kumarakom Wood Castle are just the sweetest. Every meal was really tasty and plentiful. The owner and her son gave lots of good advice on things to do in the area, and helped with arranging the bookings. Location is very convenient, near places to get a boat on the backwaters and to cross Vembanad lake. My room with private bathroom was spacious and clean. Kumarakom Wood Castle is the perfect place to stay for anyone wanting to experience the serenity of the backwaters.
