Great bungalow and hotel, clean and well kept. Food great and had a great casual vibe. Definitely recommend. We liked staying a little way out (10 min walk or $2 tuk tuk) and still being on the beach. Town can be busy so was nice to be away from the chaos.

From the moment I arrived at Stay Golden, I felt at home. The property is tucked away in a peaceful spot right on the beach, so you get the best of both worlds — the calm, relaxing vibe while still being close enough to Arugam Bay’s surf and town. The rooms are spotless, spacious, and designed with so much thought. I loved the little details — comfortable beds, airy interiors, and that perfect blend of modern and tropical style. The pool and yoga shala overlooking the ocean are the cherry on top, making it easy to slow down and recharge. What really makes this place special is the people. The owners and staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They were warm, welcoming, and always ready with great recommendations for surfing, safaris, and local spots. It felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being part of a little family. Two things that really stood out: they have their own tuk tuk service, which made getting around super easy and stress-free, and a generator that kicks in during power cuts — such a lifesaver in Sri Lanka’s heat! If you’re looking for a place in Arugam Bay where you can truly relax, enjoy amazing food, and feel cared for in every way, Stay Golden is it. I can’t wait to come back

Die Besitzerin Angie (deutsch sprechend) und ihr Mann führen eine tolle Hotelanlage. Sehr schöne Bungalows. Man merkt, dass Angie ihr westliches Flair für Design und Details einfliessen lassen hat.

Wir haben die Kumana Nationalpark Safari gemacht. Der Park sehr schön, jedoch wurde Safari als zu lang empfunden. 6-7h unterwegs. Drei bis vier Stunden maximal würden längstens reichen.

Location (close to town center but without the noise, close to beginner surf spot), staff, possibility to rent a scooter, surf equipment available, free sun-beds on the beach

The AC didn’t work properly the entire stay, electricity unstable, restaurant not tasty, late cleaning of the rooms (4pm)

Le restaurant était ouvert toute la journée et on a pu se régaler avec une carte très complète ! Il y avait de tout, aussi pour les enfants ! Je salive encore en pensant aux smoothies bowl ! L’ambiance était super, Angie et Rihan étaient aux petits soins et veillaient à ce que nous ne manquions de rien et que notre séjour soit parfait ! Très convivial ! On y retournera c’est sûr, meilleure adresse sur l’île !
