Stay Golden

My time at stay golden was amazing. The staff and the owners were extremely helpful, always going the extra mile to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. The location is great, close enough for a short walk to the surf spot but far enough that you don't get caught up in the loud nightlife. The room was big, clean and modern and the bed was super comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer. Highly recommended and I'll be coming back for sure!

Stay Golden has been one of our favourite stays of our entire time in Sri Lanka. Beautiful bungalows/apartments, the sweetest staff (our kids still miss them) and delicous and healthy food available from 8 AM until 9 PM. What we really liked was that there were always several families staying here and that the owners was also pretty much always around with their family, it created a nice and homely vibe in which we felt very welcome. Big thanks to Rihan and Angie and we hope to visit again some day!

We loved everything! The room was lovely, the pool area was great, the breakfast options for an including breakfast were incredible. I also did a surf lesson and yoga during my stay and both were amazing. A beautiful family run hotel, the owners have created a beautiful environment and spend time talking to you. Thank you so much

Very nice, place, about 10 minutes walk from the center of Arugam Bay, but they provide free bicycles, so it’s relatively easy to get there. The bungalows are spacious and comfortable, breakfast is filling enough and they provide free yoga sessions every day and also surfing lessons (cost is similar to that in the city).

Internet was sometimes little slow, aircon had troubles working at the time of peak heat and there was no doors to the bathroom (only a courtain) which I don’t like.

Stay Golden is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. Everything was just right here: from the hosts, Rihan and Angie, they are super nice and helpful (helped our driver find accommodation, suggested their favourite restaurants and sights to see and explore) they are on site every day with their children and always available for a talk. While the pool is small, the beach is wonderful with many cabana's to lounge. Even though the location is a little out of the main centre, it's easy to walk along the beach or catch a tuk tuk. We had the double room cabana, it was super clean and stylish in design. The food was amazing, great food selections and super healthy options. It's easy to stay here for a week.

Our room was the closet to the pool and restaurant, so not much privacy and every conversation can be heard. The second room in the cabana is upstairs, the stairs resemble more of a ladder than a staircase, so it is very tricky getting down, you have to go backwards like a ladder, I'm surprised this got approved by the building / housing code. It's very unsafe.

The hotel is a little out of town, which is nice; it's only a short tuk-tuk ride into town and a great place to see elephants on the way to the surf beach - peanuts. The pool area is nice with lots of places to sit. The cabana rooms are much nicer.

We have two different types of rooms at this hotel. I accidentally booked the hotel family room, not realising this was different to a cabana. So we rebooked two nights available in a cabana/bungalow/chalet (called different things on websites). The hotel room is very hot, the aircon didn't cool the room at all, and the bunk beds are too hot, so the kids slept with the mattresses down on the floor. The large glass windows made the room very hot, and there was no view. The second two nights in the cabanas were a lot nicer and way more comfortable.

We have just spent 3 nights in Stay Golden and it was one of the nicest hotel experiences we had so far. It's a very beautiful place in a perfect location with all facilities. Great yoga classes.The restaurant serves delicious food and drinks. Everyone is very helpful and caring. Angie and Rihan create warm and welcome vibes and make you feel like home. We just wish we could have stayed longer... We definitely will be back.

The hotel is phenomenal. The lovely German owner is really accommodating and friendly. The staff are also great. Everything about this place is perfect and if I could give it a 12 I would. We went during the off season (January) so the town was very quiet, which made having this accommodation all the more better.
