House On The Bend

Our room was very big and clean. We had a nice balcony that went all around our room and had a table and chairs. We had a lot of space for all of our stuff. The lights in the room were cozy, the AC worked perfectly, the bed was very comfortable and the shower had good water pressure and warm water. The staff was extremely nice and the included breakfast was perfect.

We had some ants in the bathroom that even climbed onto the toilet seat in our last night, but that's probably because the bathroom only has a net and no window. Other than that, there's nothing negative I could say about this hotel.

House on the Bend exceeded our expectations. The hotel is beautiful: new, modern and bright, with high ceilings that make both the building and the rooms feel spacious and airy. Everything felt fresh, well designed and clean. In terms of value for money, this place is outstanding. The location is hard to beat. It’s right in the heart of Hiriketiya, with everything just a short and easy walk away – beach, cafés, restaurants – yet the hotel is set back enough to be calm. We stayed in two different rooms because we extended our stay, and both were excellent. The rooms were spacious, clean, with very comfortable beds and really nice bathrooms and showers. We had no issues with insects and felt relaxed at all times. It was nice to see monkeys climbing in the palm trees right next to the hotel, sometimes even from the bed. What really made the stay special were the people. The entire staff and the manager were incredibly warm and welcoming. We were always greeted with smiles and felt more like guests at a home than in a hotel. The manager speaks excellent English and it was always nice to have a chat. We were welcomed with fresh coconut water, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was another highlight. It was included and absolutely delicious, with plenty of choice: different styles of eggs, rotis, sometimes hoppers, dhal curry and coconut sambol, fruit plates, jam, butter, tea or coffee – and we just loved the pancakes with coconut sugar. There’s also a water dispenser with free drinking water available at all times, plus cold water bottles for a very fair price. Out of all the places we stayed during our four weeks in Sri Lanka, House on the Bend was easily among the best – if not the best. We would come back in a heartbeat and can recommend it without any hesitation.

Staff super kind and friendly! Breakfast amazing. Rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. Location also very convenient. 5 min walk to the beach.

The bathroom didn’t drain very well. But would totally recommend it.

Alles was goed. Het enige wat jammer is dat er geen balkon of terrasje of tuin was waar je kon zitten.
