Queensberry arms hotel

Quiet location - we were attending Ayr Races and The Open at Royal Troon - both under an hours drive away from Kirkconnel . Great food and company.

Nothing, would stay again and no hesitation to recommend. Martin and Elma the perfect hosts.

All staff really lovely. Friendly locals in the bar. Food straightforward and good.

The couple who run it are lovely, it's got nice, clean, comfortable rooms, and provide a range of breakfast options. Food was excellent.

Breakfast room was well laid out and clean variety of food was fine and promptly served by Martin, whose wife also supplied fine fare of in the evenings

Perhaps some thought could go into extending the use of the Breakfast Room to include space for evening meals away from the "Language" which can often prevail in evening sessions.

Shared bathroom/toilet and no mirror in room

We stopped in to break up the drive from Skye to London. Very welcoming hotel, great value and fantastic cooked breakfast. Would recommend for an overnight stay.

No mirror in the bedroom, although there were mirrors in the bathroom which was grand.

We had a great stay. Staff were lovely and welcoming, food was great, room and facilities were perfect. The cooked and continental breakfast were excellent. All much better than expected. Would highly recommend.

The room was newly painted and very clean.

I requested a twin bedroom as I was travelling with my daughter. We arrived to a double bed not the requested twin bed set up.i didn’t mention it as we were late arriving and wanted to get settled. The dog was made most welcome, thank you. Staff were nice. No en-suite facilities, perhaps I didn’t read the hotel info properly. Very basic but very clean. The bathrooms were very clean and newly painted but the shower on its own went freezing to scalding with a few seconds to wash inbetween. The shower room with bath and loo in it was fine for my daughter. The workmen on the roof at max volume, starting at 7:30am was an unexpected surprise.
