Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort - Igloos and Chalets

I liked almost everything. Wonderful location and winter landscape. The chalet and the Keto Igloo were superb. A fairytale landscape. The also have a lot of activities that can be booked with raindears, Husky dogs, Santa Claus. We enjoyed all of these.

The price was kind of expensive.

almost everything is overrated. just a basic experience.

iglo s too uncomfy designed. located away from reception, need to take shuttle every single time. very poor privacy all other iglo s see you also you see them.

Breakfast was great. Rooms were great with sauna. Met the owner who is very humble and talks to all the tourists. We spent almost 1/2 hour with him and he was taking our inputs. We saw the Northern lights right at the reception during check-in which was great. The location is dimly lit making it easy to see the Northern lights.

Everyday room cleaning is not there. Not very accommodative with room changes when options were available. Locating the room is an issue for most first timers and we did not take the sleigh for the luggage and landed dragging it in the snow. This should be mentioned during check-in.

The environment

The environment was perfect, but the experience was horrible for two moms with two children aged 3 years old. First of all when we checked in, NOBODY helped us with our luggage, they told us that we could bring our luggage with us because the cabin that we were going to stay in was close. It was impossible with two children who were sleepy and tired and we had their buggies with us and we don't have enough hand to carry everything, also we could not leave the children alone at the cabin so we struggled so much , wanted help for about 10 minutes, by then they told they will bring them right away (we waited for our luggage for an hour!) The children were so hungry we could go to have dinner at 9pm which was unusually late for the kids. The other day we had the reindeer experience which was not so close and they made us walk with the children who were again ofcourse sleepy and we carried them to the area, again with no help and no priorty which was unacceptable as we were exhausted. They made us sit in the very rear of the reindeer and all that the children could see was the reindeer's back and it was not a good experience. I am not talking the return, we got lost nobody helped us back to hotel. And the cabinets toilet was very poor with a OPEN shower , when you shower you should clean the floors because there is no glass window covering the shower, unhealthy and really unhygienic (for the money you pay it is unacceptable!) And for the check out I told them we would have a taxi waiting us at our check out time and we would like someone to have our luggage in front of the hotel so that we could carry our children but they told us that the taxi driver could help us as they don't have a bell boy!!! The food was so bad the children were hungry at all times. Overall I would not recommend this particular hotel to anybody , stay away go somewhere else for your own sake. It is not a child friendly place, and oh the santa experience, what a shame was that one!

The location , ambience, the Christmas decorations, beautiful log house with personal sauna .

The restaurant management was really not good . 1 order takes more than 1 hr to arrive . They even ran out of rice , breads the basics .
