Zhongshan International Hotel

The hotel has not been renovated in a long time. However the rooms are nice and clean and the staff is very friendly. There was a nice restaurant at the hotel that serves Japanese food but it could take a while for you to get your food. The Hotel is A few blocks from shopping area and there is plenty of shopping three or four blocks away.

It's an old Chinese business hotell, ie a very nice attempt to make a high class that fell short on the details. There's a certain charm to that, so I rather like the not quite horizontal fixings etc. The staff is very nice and service minded, but very few speak English, which is a bit odd for an "international" hotel. The revolving restaurant on floor 20 serves a nice breakfast buffet, with a number of western items. The conference facilites are quite good. However, there are only two non-smoking floors so they quickly run out of non-smoking rooms. Furthermore, in the rooms, the carpets really should be cleaned now and then. They provide slippers and robes, but as usual not in western sizes. All flat surfaces (the bathroom countertop, desk, nightstand, table, shelf above refridgerator) really need a good scrubbing. A few truly odd things are the chess room, the fact that the perfectly acceptable gym doesn't open until 8AM(!), the bar in the lobby closes at 10PM and that the breakfast doesn't open until 7AM. The immediate surroundings are not particularily charming, but there is a very nice shopping street only a few blocks away and a few nice restaurants nearby (including an excellent italian if you need western cuisine). All in all, a perfectly decent hotel and quite a nice experience.

I have come to this city for the pass 8 years and stayed in this hotel which was the first and best but i also stayed in the hotel next block which is just the same as this one but a bit cheaper. so I have decided to return to the international hotel to see if it gotten any better. well it was wars then i expected i was charged top price and gotten much less. I booked a primmer room at $140 a night but it wasn't worth it the breakfast was very disappointing and the hotel is not so friendly.so next time i will save 50% and stay next door.

I've travelling all over China for the past 6 years and I guess I know Hotels. Well when I booked it I wasn't expecting much but at least the basic for an Hotel that is rated four stars if I'm not wrong. Anyway nothing near to a four star. Hotel is pretty much old, do not expect personnel to understand your english unless you says the usual sentences needed in a hotel such as check-in check-out and mini-bar. Rooms are pretty much small, bathroom proves the age of the hotel. Besides the encounter of a man vomiting right in front of the elevator at 10.30 pm the most funniest (upsetting actually) thing is that having my girlfriend over for one night, the next day she was refused breakfast and told to go to reception and pay in advance while I had left some 100 USD as a deposit. Forget WIFI at floors. Poor management, zero flexibility, never ever again.

Choose always the 14th floor, the hotel is under renovations, and the floor already done is the 14th, the prices for staying are very affordable, the restaurante in the 2nd floor is very nice, but the round one on the roof top is amazing, clean and with one of the best laundry service available, also have wi-fi or conect by cable to have internet.

I stay in this hotel about 15 days over 4 trips each year. The prices are good. The remodeled rooms are nice and roomy. The staff is always pleasant. This trip the food selection and quality at the buffet has gone down hill. At breakfast it was a challenge to fid something Western or Chinese to eat.

We stayed in room 1621 of the Zhongshan International Hotel (Chinese: 中山國際酒店). We asked for and were lucky to get a nonsmoker's room. The room has five power outlets (3 US/China style outlets, 1 Hong Kong style, and one China style) and one shaver outlet in the bathroom. The door is opened with an electronic key card and has two security locks on the inside. TV is a Samsung flat screen with remote, and has about fifty most Mandarin-speaking channels; I expected more Cantonese ones. Hotel has offered us the local newspaper twice which was a nice touch and the room provided slippers and toothbrushes too. The bad: The bathroom has a leaky faucet, the granite counter is cracked and has exposed wire underneath. Carpet really needs a deep cleaning. The hotel is located in a more grimy part of town and various surrounding buildings are in disrepair. A strip mall is next door though there's a McDonald's and Western-style steakhouse and supermarket -- no meats or bread or produce -- across the street. The International Chinese Restaurant (officially "International Room") tried to charge us four times for one tea pot for our party, when we should have gotten a tea pot per person. We complained the manager who insisted it was policy not to give us wet tea leaves, but relented and gave us some dried ones. The Revolving Restaurant has some decent seafood and sushi choices for dinner, but breakfast is iffy (no pigs' blood congee even though the sign had said they had it). The elevator needs modernization upgrades so don't stick your hand between the doors!

This is an old hotel but refurbished.Location wise not convenient for shopping except to,nearby Walking Street where one can purchase local products. Everywhere else you need to commute by taxi. Ideal location for those having to travel to the nearby industrial estate in Xi District.The room that I was allocated ( 410 ) was newly refurbished and very spacious.Linen were new. Wifi is free and fast.The buffet breakfast which is included in the room rate is mediocre....typical of buffet breakfast served in Chinese hotel. I stayed 4 days in the hotel and the daily breakfast spread was more or less similar except for some minor changes.Service by staff was attentive and above average. However minimal English spoken by staff. Good value for the room rate paid to hotel.

12/02/ 2013. I frequently stay at the ZIH. I was just there for 2 nightls last week. The staff is great. The room prices are very good. You must try the buffet dinner on the top floor revolving restaurant which shows off the nighttime city lights and river. What I mostly like is the hotel uses bank rates to exchange currency.

this is a quite old hotel, rooms have not been renewed for long, smell is very bad in rooms, bathroom might be clean but looks dirty, definitly not a pleasant stay, even for a moderate price. will definitly never come back.
