"The Taste-less Baker"

2.0

We purchased a small Hummingbird cake from the Eden bakery at this hotel. It looked very pleasing. It cost about $15. It was terrible. First, it was dry. Second, there was no banana flavor at all. Third, yikes…. there was no any kind of flavor. Just a kind of brown cake. We were passing by the Hotel the next day, and I stopped by just to make sure we were given the Hummingbird cake and not something else. Turns out per the cashier that the baker is vegan and doesn’t taste anything. Oh my oh my! If that’s truly the case, he needs to get recipes from someone who has tasted the recipe! And they were sorry, but no offer to make amends.

"location and springs in YOUR room!!"

8.0

This was my first time to Hot Springs. This Hotel was chosen because of the hot springs in my room tub. There are not many rooms here so you don't have to deal with many people.Check in went easily .There is a pull off next door to unload but then we parked in the free parking lot across the street.Really was not a problem at all and they are willing to help you unload if needed. We had very nice robes to use in our room.We also had a carafe of chilled spring water in the fridge. They will refill this whenever you need more for free. There were also homemade and delicious cookies on our nightstands. We stayed in the Maurice room and so glad we did as it was quiet. The tub was big enough for 2 and we received a complimentary ducky to float in it.There was one small leaf shaped soap on the sink. There was a large soap dish on the tub but nothing to put on it.The water was very hot and blue with no odor.It was very relaxing .There was also a shower with soap and conditioner in a dispenser on the shower wall.We had a paper to mark our breakfast choices and it was turned in the night before. You eat breakfast during a 2 hour slot and a time of your choosing. Our breakfast was delicious.I had a spinach cheese quiche, fruit cup, raspberry muffin, and almond milk. The location of this Hotel is in the center of town and right on the street.I would suggest a room on the backside for noise. The bed was very comfortable but not many channels on the TV.We had a garden view which was basically a hill against the back of the building with some trees. We honestly did not utilize it at all.

"Hotel on Bathhouse Row in Hot Spring National Park"

10.0

Hotel Hale is located in the former Hale Bathhouse on Bathhouse Row within the National Park. The Grand Promenade runs up the hill right out back of the hotel. As parking is a bit of a hassle in Hot Springs, we wanted to be a close as possible to all the sites and sounds of the National Park and downtown. We decided on this boutique hotel and enjoyed a two night stay here. The front desk called us on the afternoon of our arrival to check if we needed any directions. Upon arrival, they gave us a brief introduction into the hotel and its amenities. They then took us up to our room and showed us how to access the hot water directly from the hot springs out back. Breakfast is included each morning for overnight guests. They make the breakfast to order, so they give you a menu upon arrival and ask you to make your breakfast selections the night before. Freshly brewed coffee is delivered to your room each morning at the time you request. The rooms are spacious and clean with some old time character and modern conveniences. The wooden floors squeak and are uneven (the building is over 120 years old). The bathroom is very large with tile floor and a large tub which has the water piped in from the Hot Springs, like it was when the building was a bathhouse. The wifi was actually usable - the speed was adequate unlike other hotels (include major chains) where we stayed. A small bakery is onsite which serves homemade deserts (a cookie was waiting for us in our room when we checked in) along with coffee, lemonade and hot/ice tea. The tea was included for guests and my wife had the lemonade. There is also a bar and restaurant on site that we did not visit. All in all a great stay. We would definitely stay here again.

"Great Stay"

10.0

We spent three nights here as they converted an actual bathhouse (built in 1892) to a hotel so it’s really cool. The rooms are beautiful, but there are only nine of them (and only two have a capacity over two) so you’ll want to book it as soon as they become available, four months in advance. The three of us stayed in the Fordyce, and it has a tub that has the actual hot springs water you can soak in, so we took advantage of that each night. They also offer large carafes of cold spring water you can take as often as you need them. The room also has a refrigerator, but no microwave. They have good black out curtains, but you still must deal with the occasional noise since you are staying on the main street downtown. As part of your stay, during the week you get essentially a continental breakfast you order the night before and then once you go to the lobby, they serve it to you. The bigger perk is on the weekend you get to have a meal at the Eden restaurant and the actual food and basic drinks (such as coffee) are included and from the bill we got, we saved around $60. I had the crab cake benedict, and it was delicious. There’s also a mini coffee shop and dessert shop in the front and you can get various cakes as we enjoyed the key lime and triple chocolate cake ones. During the reservation, they mentioned the limited parking, so we added the $25 daily fee for valet parking. They called us the day of the reservation to explain the process, as you essentially park in a loading zone at the bathhouse next door and then they will come by and take (or drop off) your car. When we needed the car, you would just ask the front desk and they would quickly get it. While we didn’t have any problems, if we ever came back, we may instead just park at the parking garage down the street instead to save the fee. The staff is very friendly, and we talked to the owner/manager a bit and came across as somebody that really cared and just wasn’t making small talk. This place definitely isn’t a budget hotel but if you can afford it, I would highly recommend staying at a historic building.

"Beautiful Historic Hotel with Amazing Service"

10.0

We spent our 33rd wedding anniversary at the Hotel Hale. We stayed in the Hale room which was amazing. It had a very large soaking tub with thermal mineral spring water piped into the tub. The McCabe’s are excellent hosts and their staff was attentive and polite. The service was 5 star and exceeded my expectations. The food and service in the Eden Room were outstanding. The best brunch in town and it’s free for hotel guest!! Overall we had a wonderful anniversary weekend and would not hesitate to come back to Hotel Hale.

"Bad"

1.0

Hot bath

No parking. I had to park half a mile away and drag my stuff from there. The mattress was old and lumpy and the bed side lights were harsh and you had to pull the plug to turn them off.

"A WONDERFUL AND HISTORIC PLACE TO STAY!!!!! "

10.0

10 out of 10!!!!! From the moment I arrived at the hotel and even the welcoming phone call prior to my arrival the experience could not have been better. Jennifer helped me tremendously with directions even after I had unwittingly passed up where she had told me to stop and unload and ended up on top of the mountain by accident. She helped guide this south Louisiana boy back down the mountain and to the right spot. Lol... The staff was more than welcoming and engaging and was able to knowledgeably answer all and any questions I may have had during my stay. Cleanliness was impeccable and the decor and atmosphere are just right for a stay in the middle of historic downtown Hot Springs. The Hale is an original Bath House on the row and within walking distance to everything from the mountain hiking trails to the oldest bar in Hot Springs. Location is GREAT! The amenities such as the Hot Springs bath water being still piped in fresh from the springs as well as refreshing spring drinking water available to the guests are Awesome! In short I'm sure there are fancier more ritzy hotels available, not that the Hale isn't either of those, but The Hotel Hale is the perfect place to stay for a small feel cozy hotel with all the same and even more amenities than a larger hotel. Couldn't have booked a better hotel in Hot Springs than the Hotel Hale. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Hot Springs.
