Hugo Homestay

People, pool, palm trees, vegetation and the relaxed atmosphere.

We had a good stay at Hugo's. Ngoc and his wife are very pleasant and hospitable. Loved the pool and the room size is large. Basic and clean with air-conditioning.  The linen and towels are a bit tired. Need replacement. The Homestay is on the quieter side of town, more of a rural area. Not much to see in the neighbourhood and no restaurants. Go into town for that. There are bicycles to use. Ngoc can arrange different tours, but a must see is Paradise cave and Phong Nha cave- this was spectacular. He also carries and fetches to the airport and train station. No Grab in town. The area and surrounds are being developed and tourism will boom in this area. This Homestay will need to do quite a bit of maintenance and regular upkeep to remain 3 stars. The competition is tough in this area. Quiet at night, not a party place. Youngsters stay at backpackers in town.

It was lovely few days. I loved the talkative children and spacious room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hugo Homestay. The room was spacious, with good air conditioning and comfy beds. We enjoyed the free breakfast and the family dinner there was delicious! The pool was lovely and cleaned daily but there was so much to do in Phong Nha that we didn't get a chance to use it. Hugo and his family were so friendly and accommodating. He helped us with transport to and from the bus stop, had motorbikes to rent for the day and bicycles to use freely. There was such a homely feel to this homestay, we definitely could have stayed for much longer!

Everything was great

- Near the drop off point of Camel Travel buses (Thien Phu Hostel), 20 minutes by walk which was totally fine. The host can also offer a pick up service. On our departure day, he dropped us off by car at the hostel free of charge - The room was spacious and clean - The family was nice and welcoming

- The motorbike we rented had a deflated rear tire, it was far from ideal

Hugo was very helpful and helped us book cave tours, buses, and even helped us get a rental scooter. The family had just got two new puppies also, so we were having a lot of fun playing with them by the pool in our free time. The location is great as it is a street away from the main town so much more quiet and relaxed compared to the busier centre. I recommend this homestay if you want to unwind and relax after exploring caves and the beauty of Phong Nha.

No fridge in the room was unfortunate. Normally we.lile to buy water and cool in the fridge to drink when we want. We had to buy every morning from their fridge which starts to add up compared to just buying a large 5L bottle. If you do decide to buy your own water we found a larger mart in town that sells 5L for 25k. All of the adjacent shops and smaller shops around town purchase from this store then marl up their prices almost double. Also the bike you rent may need some air in the tyres as a lot were flat and really in disrepair. But they were free so we shouldn't complain

Hugo and his family were so attentive, he collected us early hours of the morning and took us to the caves and duck stop. He booked the bus for us too. He really went above and beyond. The facilities are amazing value for money, we stayed in a private room and it felt like a hotel. 10000% would recommend
