The Bear Inn

The accomodation was spacious, well equipped, warm and very clean

The Bear Inn had heaps of character, was cosy & quaint.

The staff on arrival and departure were friendly. We were staying here to attend a friend's wedding and the location in relation to Belper was convenient (10 minutes).

The bed was noisy as hell and the pillows were a bit lumpy. The temperature in the shower fluctuated.

The location was lovely, the room cosy with heating, the bar locals were friendly, advising things to do. A warm , welcoming place to stay.

The bedroom descriptions each say a private bathroom with a shower but do not state if there’s a bath. Appears a bath is only in the superior room & the cottages. Just for your reference when booking if you’re a walker who craves a bath afterwards!

This was not to bad, but it was quite lot of money

Evening meal was absolutely superb, food was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Service was quick.

Bramble 'Cottage' had everything you needed but housekeeping needed desperate attention. Shower hose was black and came off when I rubbed it, tiles were dirty and radiator was full of rust. Hob was filthy too. However, the bed and pillows were very comfy.

Service staff were young girls plainly just doing their job. Zero warmth, no smiles.
