Alta's Rustler Lodge

Hands down the best ski experience in North America. Forty-five minutes from SLC. Fantastic food (buffet breakfast with omelet bar, four course seated dinner), spacious and comfortable rooms, a great bar, wonderful add-ons (steam, sauna, outdoor heated pool, work out facility, complimentary stretching classes every morning) and a very welcoming, helpful and caring staff. Located at the base of Alta, ski-in/ski-out.

I’ve been coming to The Rustler for over two decades. And I’m never disappointed. I could talk about the perfect location, the great accommodations, and the delicious food, but that’s just scratching the surface. The Rustler stands out because of their staff and how they make the guests feel at home. There are longtime staff members, but for the most part, the guests interact with the young, avid skiers who staff the dining area. And even though many of these young people stay for only a few years, they become imbued with the culture of The Rustler….. A culture of kindness. For example; my party and I neglected to make a dinner reservation for one evening, which left us with a very late dinner time, a challenge for those of us from the East Coast. However, a first year employee host, Lilli, could not have been nicer in trying to help us find an earlier time. And she managed to. But more than her success in solving our petty “first world” problem, it was her kind demeanor and empathetic attitude which left a real lasting impression on all of us. The Rustler is the absolute best. I can’t wait to return next year and for many years to come.

Love the rustler. Always stay here. Can’t recommend it enough. Just trying to fill out the two hundred characters because I want to make sure to leave a good recommendation. This place is fantastic and more people should stay there. Best place on the mountain.

If you want to have a wonderful family vacation, that is easy on everyone, have great food, relax in the pool, hot tub, steam bath or sauna and on top of that, ski-in ski-out. This is your place. They also have a wonderful spa. If you are a foody, breakfast & dinner are included! They have a diverse selection for breakfast which covers all bases, young or older. If you like bacon, theirs is to die for. Lunch is not included, but the options are plentiful and appear to satisfy everyone. They always have a special for dinner, which is nice option. They also have a nice bar overlooking the mountain and you can watch the sunset from there. If you have younger children, they have a wonderful early dinner program with entertainment to follow. One night they had a ornithologist, with four live birds (falcon, great horned owl, snowy owl & cockatoo). I wanted to go to that and not have dinner with the adults. Ha! As you can surmise, it's easy. Ski-in Ski-out You don't have to worry about where to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I forgot to mention, everyone that works there is extremely personable, professional and helpful. They all truly enjoy working at The Rustler. Enjoy!!!

We have stayed at The Rustler for a week annually for many years now. Our experience has always been fantastic. Friendly service, comfortable accommodations, good food, extraordinary setting ... all at the foot of one of the greatest ski areas in the world.

This was my 5th year visiting the Rustler Lodge. It was, as always, another exceptional visit. The food, facilities, and friendly staff are all first rate. There are few things better than a full day of skiing Alta powder followed by the heated pool at the Rustler and a delicious dinner in the dining room. I'm already looking forward to my return again next year!

Ski in / ski out to the slopes; outstanding rooms and dining; remarkable service from a staff that are passionate about skiing, and all of it unpretentious. Hard to find a place that has all of these, consistently, year after year. Hats off to Tom, Kate and everyone on the staff.

The Rustler continues to be a premier ski lodge. The accommodations are extraordinarily comfortable. Everything is always spotless. The staff are very friendly and always accommodating. And they seem to sincerely enjoy their work. And they like to have fun! The food is excellent. I have been coming here for 15 years and they never disappoint. It is like visiting family every year! Can't recommend it highly enough!

Once again the Rustler experience is excellent. We have been enjoying the hospitality, excellent food and atmosphere for over 35 years. We have never been disappointed. The Rustler offers warm and friendly atmosphere to enjoy skiing and socializing with friends and family. I look forward to this trip all year.

comfortable & convenient , great location This was our first stay at Rustlers Lodge. We had a wonderful time and plan to be repeat guests in the future. We chose Alta because of its snow and skier only focus. We chose Rustlers Lodge for its all -inclusive lodging and meal experience, similar to European SKi chalets. Amazing week. Rustlers Lodge is right on Alta slopes. Staff is service oriented. Breakfast is buffet style with options to order items. Dinner is 4 courses with choices for each course. Size of the dining room and many East and central U.S. skiers can sometimes make getting an early dinner time a challenge. But there is usually the option of a communal table which is relatively early. We met other friendly skiers at that table. Many have been going to Rustlers Lodge for 20-30 years and introducing it to their next generation. Outdoor pool & spa facilities were great to have . We will be back.
