Bissa Villa

This area has so much to see and Bissa Villa was an excellent place to come back to each afternoon for a swim and a delicious meal after a busy day of site seeing. We also enjoyed the rural aspect of this slightly out of town location. The hosts were extremely friendly & helpful making it our favourite place to stay on our whole Sri Lankan trip.

Prachtige luxe huisjes tussen de bomen en de aapjes.

We hebben twee nachten doorgebracht bij Bissa Villa. Wat een paradijsje. Het ligt tegen de jungle aan waardoor er soms olifanten dichtbij zijn. Heel veel slimme, grappige aapjes zitten in de bomen en er zijn veel eekhoorns. Heel leuk om van dichtbij mee te maken. Het zwembadje is klein maar fijn, de kamers zijn schoon en hebben airco. De vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw zijn heel gastvrij en hebben ons veel over Sri Lanka en het boeddhisme verteld. Ook hebben we een mooie wandeling door de rijstvelden gemaakt samen met Samitha, de gastvrouw. En het eten bij de Trainhut was werkelijk fantastisch. We vonden het jammer dat we weer weg moesten. We hadden er graag nog een paar nachtjes gebleven, zo'n fijn verblijf was het. Als we nog eens in Sri Lanka zijn, komen we zeker terug.

Alles was fantastisch.

El personal del hotel fue encantador en todo momento, siempre intentando complacernos y que estuviera todo a nuestro gusto. Los desayunos que preparan súper ricos y las cenas también merece mucho la pena cenar allí, es todo de su propia cosecha y lo preparan en el momento con gran cariño. La piscina cuando llegamos estaba algo sucia, pero se lo dijimos y enseguida la limpiaron. La habitación muy grande y limpia y el baño tb. A la hora de pagar no funcionaba el datáfono para pagar con la tarjeta de crédito y nos dieron todas las facilidades para pagar. Si algo tengo que recalcar, son ellos, sin súper agradables y familiares.

No hay nada que no me gustara

Les chambres sont confortables, dans un cadre agreable et ombragé. Nous avons tout apprécié : la gentillesse de nos hôtes, les petits déjeuners et repas, la piscine, les promenades autour : rizières, lac... On recommande vivement !

We absolutely fell in love with Bissa Villa! The gardens, the pool, the bungalows, the scent of flowers, the sounds of birds and other wildlife.. it was truly paradise! ;-) The welcome from the two hosts, a wonderful couple, was very warm. They showed us around the property and offered that we could still have dinner at their restaurant The Train Hut (even though we arrived late). We ended up eating there every single night during our stay! They offer a fantastic combination of Sri Lankan - backpacker - Western style food, which is a hit for every tourist, of course. The pool was very relaxing after a day out in the "Golden Triangle", and the breakfast pancakes (Sri Lankan style, sweet pancakes, rolls with honey and cardamon and coconut) were favorite for our kids. And they had proper coffee! You could tell the hosts have been to Europe, as they spoke very good English and knew what their customers want. A touch of home combined with the adventures of Sri Lanka! Our hosts had some very entertaining stories about how they chase away monkeys off the property, as well as elephants that visit in the night (not during our stay).

The train only comes by occasionally (3x per day approximately?), but when it does, you'll hear it. Especially since it really has to use its horn at nighttime, to chase away the elephants that are on the train tracks... It's not the fault of the wonderful owners, but it may cause a slight irritation once you're almost asleep..
