Nirvaan Safari Lodge

We stayed for 2 nights and was just in one word AMAZING. The location is beautiful. The tent is wonderful and are clean and has a nice big bed. And a shower with a view. Just look over the wall and if you are lucky you can spot an elephant.  We also booked a full-day tour with them for the Wilpattu National Park. Everything was well organized and they arranged a good breakfast and lunch for us during the safari. The guides are well-trained and have great eyes for spotting the animals. They have an amazing knowledge of the park and animals.  Highly recommend this resort if you looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy nature and Wilpattu National Park!!

The host is a well known bioligist who build a few lodges next to the national park entrance and situated in the rice fields. Do not expect any luxury. The money earned go’s after costs back to nature preservation. GO HERE!!

Nice stay.

Please do not come here in a tuk tuk. Owner should take much bigger responsibility in telling this to guests upfront. Road to the lodge is very difficult (although there is a 2 min walk shortcut by foot to the main road, you have to take a li g way round to get to the lodge entrance). We had a seriously scary incident with the tuk tuk toppling sideways because of how difficult the road is.

I really liked the place and accommodation. The food was really good, owner and the staff are really friendly and will help you with everything. Had an amazing safari, what you can book at the property.

Wow, there are no words for this place. The host Ranil has created an oasis near Wilpattu NP focused on sustainability and responsible tourism. There are only two guest houses and the open hall for gathering and eating. The ambience is very calm and peaceful. But it also feels adventurous sleeping in the tents, knowing that elephants might came to sneak around the neighbouring fields. (We always felt super save because of the locals manning the watch platform during the night and the electro fence). We watched dozens of fire flys and the full moon from our open bathroom area a night. When we arrived on the main road we were picked up by a safari guide whom we booked a full day tour with the next day. Highly recommend that as well. In the evening we talked to Ranil a lot about his projects as a biologist in the park and he gave us a lot of insight into Sri Lanka. Of course my boyfriend loved the dog Kylie. If we ever come back to Sri Lanka we have to come back here.

Everything was great. The staff were really friendly and so helpful. Safari was also excellent and great value for money. We saw leopards, bears and elephants and all of our questions were expertly answered throughout. The facilities were also brilliant and clean and the accommodation was lovely.

Nothing! There were a lot of creepy crawlers but that is only to be expected when you’re staying just outside the park.
