This was our second stay at Mount Cedar and the location is absolutely beautiful. The setting in the Cederberg is stunning and the accommodation has a very special atmosphere. The peaceful surroundings and the nature are what made us come back after our first visit.

Unfortunately, this time not everything was as good as we remembered. Some of the towels and pillowcases had visible stains, possibly from sunscreen, which made them look unclean. While this alone would not have been a major issue, it did take away a bit from the overall experience. What disappointed us more was the food. The dinners were quite expensive (around 450 Rand per person), which set a high expectation. Unfortunately the quality did not match the price. For example, the hake fillet looked and tasted as if it had been prepared earlier and simply reheated. It lacked freshness and texture and was quite disappointing for the price level.

Weitläufige Anlage mit mehreren Gästehäusern in traumhaft schöner Umgebung. Wir hatten das Gästehaus "Kamferboom", Schlafzimmer und zusätzlich 2 Betten (z.B. für Kinder) im Wohnzimmer, viel Platz, sauber. Lassen Sie sich auf keinen Fall den Badeplatz am "Groot River" entgehen, absolut außergewöhnlich!!! Essen und Frühstück sind gut.

Location was exceptional and great for hikes. Cottage was comfortable and remote from reception so felt like we were on our own. Walk with Sam was great - informative and fun. He also helped us out in securing more petrol for our departure. Nearest petrol station was 50km away.

The food was just ok - thankfully we went self catering. No choice for dinner. Reception staff did not communicate hiking options well on arrival and didn’t follow up on our queries as promised. Not everyone on reception seemed to be able to deal with the most basic of enquiries. The road to our property had been damaged by recent floods but the repairs were difficult to negotiate in our car. We didn’t have a 4x4!

Sehr gutes Frühstück, sehr gutes Restaurant, Unterkunft war schön. Überraschend, eigentlich sogar traumhaftschön ist der Badeplatz am Groot River, den man sich auf gar keinen Fall entgehen lassen sollte!

Le cadre exceptionnel au milieu des montagnes du Cederberg, le chalet très bien aménagé et cosy.

Le service est un peu lent. Le repas du soir est un peu cher pour ce que c’est.

Well appointed house clean and nicely situated near swimming place on river. Welcoming staff. Great sleep in peaceful surroundings..

Poor evening meal . Overpriced. Main course beef rib was served lukewarm. Sent back to kitchen. Still lukewarm when served again. Would advise doing self cater in cottage which we did on the second night..
