Hunters Lodge With Hot Tub

Very close to York and Castle Howard which we went to for the day. The lodge is lovely and fully equipped, hot tub is great and very relaxing. Clear instructions prior to arrival.

There seemed to be a lot of rules to follow and threats of fines for driving on the grass, changing the temperature of the hot tub etc, but assume these need to be in place so things don't break etc. I had read in other reviews that the kitchen was missing a lot of equipment so took my own things, but it had everything needed.

Lodge felt comfortable and was ideal for our needs.

Good location, lovely hot tub around the back. Some nice bits of decor. Easy check in and out process. One bed was comfy, bed linen soft and clean. Nice quiet holiday park. Main bathroom good, nice towels. Decent size freezer. Free sponge and washing liquid. Some condiments.

Uncomfortable, old, unsightly outside furniture - this is a real missed opportunity as the deck is large with nice views. The lodge is not maintained well - the dripping shower mentioned in a few previous reviews is still dripping. The shower room door missing it’s lock and sink plug. The decking cracked to one side. One bed was missing slats right in the middle! Stained carpets, stained mattresses, very stained futons. A broken blind in the living room. Kitchen is very very poorly equipped - don’t come here expecting to even be able to cook a hot breakfast. There was no frying pan! No tin opener (also previously mentioned), Christmas tea towels. Feels like a kitchen that’s been stocked with someone’s leftover stuff, not with guests in mind. The washing machine is broken and instead of fixing it they’ve just cellotaped a note on it as to how to stop it leaking all over the floor. Its a real shame, because all of these minor things could be fixed in a week and would give the lodge a higher quality feel. It feels like it was once a loved holiday home but is now becoming neglected.

The lodge was lovely, clean and cosy. The hot tub was quite private, off the back of the lodge looking out into the trees. We really enjoyed our stay and will be booking another stay in the future.

Nice quiet location and comfortable accommodation and dog friendly. The staff were helpful and friendly. A great place to relax and unwind.

The en-suite shower dripped which was reported but not an issue. Lack of a decent frying pan/kitchen knives which I've found seems to be common in self catering places so note to self will bring our own in future.
